We can only hope this is as much fun as Chicago ‘68

It wasn't any fun at all. As a 15 year old boy watching it on TV, it felt as though the entire fabric of the nation was coming apart. The usual peaceful means of resolving debate were replaced by violence in the streets adding to the general chaos in the nation. It was not a "fun" experience in the least. It was frightening.

I was 17 then and felt much the same as you. The behavior of the defendants and media at the "Chicago 7" trial that followed gave me yet another feeling that our country had changed for the worse.

David Horowitz in his book "Radical Son" gave a good account of what people were behind those riots, and how they did it. It was no accident.
