News Flash for those unenlightened few...Latinos are classified racially as “caucasian,” as are Arabs, Persians, and Eastern Indians (as opposed to Amerinds). Therefore “white” is correct.
You are correct about that but I haven't seen the term "Amerinds" (American Indians) since college in the early '70s.
I could care less what race the guy is or if he is legal. Although that would add to the nuttiness of letting them stay here.
What I really care about is what the maximum sentence is for the crime.
That is before they come out with the he was an abused child defense or some similar rat crap!
Many ‘Latinos’/Hispanic look like they stepped off a Mayan artifact and many do not even speak Spanish or Portuguese. Call these people Indians, Amerindians, Mestizo, Latino, Hispanic(I call some of them ‘uncle’ and ‘cousin’ and ‘brother’ and ‘friend’) - but calling many of them ‘white’ is incorrect both as a color or a genealogy.
This guy however looks white. He has a Spanish surname, but doesn’t look like much Amerindian blood at all. The best ‘racial’ description is one that conveys information. If warning about this guy I wouldn’t say ‘Hispanic’ unless he dressed that way. If describing an Australian ‘abbo’ I might say ‘black’ and that would be correct by color but not at all by genealogy.
And although I use the word ‘genealogy’ that is not to say that there are any hard and fast genetic differences among people. We are a remarkably similar species as far as our DNA goes, the difference we can all see, smell, and (sometimes possibly) taste are mostly a matter of what frequency these particular differences tend to appear. The same genes that make my skin slightly dark (W.o.p.)are present and very similar in all humans, they are just more of them are likely to show up in a broken copy in people whose ancestors came from northern climates.
