Candidate's Reform Institute also accepted funds from Teresa Kerry
As Sen. John McCain assumes the GOP front-runner mantle, his long-standing, but little-noticed association with left-wing donors such as George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry is receiving new attention among his Republican critics.
In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.
McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.
In 2006, the Arizona senator was forced to sever his formal ties with the Reform Institute after a controversial $200,000 contribution from Cablevision came to light. McCain solicited the donation for the Reform Institute using his membership on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, he supported Cablevision's push to introduce the more profitable al la carte pricing, rather than packages of TV programming.

Who is on the arab-money-for-oil payroll in DC? Jimmah carter knows very well how to wear the Golden Handcuffs... Bill Clinton just got 131 million for dropping a deal with arabs in the UAE??? How much arab money has McCain received? Probably none.
Would not have mattered, my friend. Some purists here hated Romney more than they wanted to ignore McCain's problems.
Also, Fred never got the energy from the electorate because he never showed any.
If you haven’t read this yet...
thanks for that link
The MSM hasn’t even started on him.
Think Bush I and II. Think President Reagan. Heck, think Robert Dole.
The only people who have been criticizing him so far are conservatives. Wait til the Clintons and the media turn on him.
Building on a Strong Foundation
The Institute, working to reestablish the essential connection between citizens and their government, strives to renew the American tradition of meaningful, active citizen participation in the nations civic life, and to restore integrity and effectiveness to our government and the electoral process.
The Institute began its work toward reform during the 2001-2002 Congressional debate on a historic effort to end the corrupting scourge of soft money vast, unregulated contributions from corporations and labor unions. The Institute also sought to end soft money funding of sham issue ads the thinly veiled, largely anonymous attack ads that plague the airwaves near election time. This epic legislative battle was the catalyst behind the creation of the 37-member coalition known as Americans for Reform, which worked to raise awareness about soft money and conducted a large-scale campaign to educate the public about problems in our system of campaign finance.
Throughout the last six years, the Institute has built a presence in the states, working to educate policy makers and opinion leaders about values-based policy reforms that strengthen the peoples confidence in government. http://www.reforminstitute.org/about/about.aspx
One donation in that category [more than $50K] came from an elected Republican official who insisted on remaining anonymous, even to Mr. McCain, Mr. Davis said.

So what Republican elected official would donate personally to this Institute, yet not wish to be revealed to even McCain himself? Politicians who donate to each others' PACs typically do so for the chits they run up.
LOL
Coming for the bastard, I hope.
Years ago in the eighties our works in the Pentagon to free the living POW's were all thwarted and we just couldn't understand why. Richard Armitage was one of those jokers for sure blocking us but it took more to erase these brave still living souls from our consciousness.
Decades earlier, I also spent part of an afternoon with his foul mouth cussing dad, Admiral McCain, CINCPAC, when John was in the Hanoi Hilton and long have puzzled how the Admiral's kid could fare as an ordinary prisoner. Even then, I suspected the kid was a treasure find for the commies. Even then, my performance reports showed I had an amazing grasp of the obvious.
Now why else after supposed torture did he come back loving commies instead of hating their guts as the rest did. Maybe the movie, Manchurian Candidate was a preview, a harbinger...
This website galvanizes my suspicions over the years, as the movie had already branded into my consciousness years before.
Borrowing from the title of a popular movie of some years ago, many activists who have felt the fangs of this pit bull call him the "Manchurian Candidate." Is that a fair accusation to level at Senator McCain, the war hero and the former POW?
In the movie, "The Manchurian Candidate," actor Lawrence Harvey portrayed the character of a former POW and war hero of the Korean War, whose brainwashing by his communist captors resulted in his enemies being able to manipulate his actions. To trigger him to do their bidding all they had to do was have him play solitaire with the Queen of Diamonds being the trigger that made him theirs, body and soul . . .
John McCain: The Manchurian Candidate

“It was all political dirty pool from the very beginning.”
I wish I had the transcript from Hannity’s interview with Huck yesterday. Huckabee said that McCain would never choose him as VP because he is an insider who owes too many favors to others. I almost feel sorry for Huckabee because I think he was the last to figure this out. But then I remember how nasty Huck was to Romney.....
One of their major efforts was pushing for open primaries, along with easier ballot access for minor party candidates. Gee, wonder why they like those ideas?
I wasn’t referring to mandates, rather mind-sets
and the very idea that we can only draw our candidates for POTUS and the senate from a small, anemic pool of multi-millionaires is diminishing the nations greatness.
Well, THATS IT.
I’M NOT VOTING FOR MCCAIN. I SIMPLY WON’T VOTE.
They sure made it difficult to find the source. This is really disheartening. Soros wins either way. Hillary/McCain.
You have a way with words that provides marvelous imagery, Miss Behave.
And I agree with the sentiment 1000 percent (although my rear is not "silky soft" - LOL).
I'll confess, I'm already somewhat intrigued. What's his stance on illegal immigration...? ;)
Spike may want to consider appointing my 125 lb. German Shepherd Mowgli to a cabinet position, he is terrifying and intimidating to strangers up to no good, yet sweet and docile to invited friends. He cannot be bribed because he never takes food, toys or gifts from strangers. Although he would never leave our fenceless yard unless commanded to, he would give his life to defend our property and lives. He would be extremely strong on defending our nation's border, his only condition would be that my husband would have to be allowed to be near him at all times. = )
I’m going to need a ruling on the status of your @ss before I believe this post.
A contribution of $713K, still anonymous.
That looks to be the anonymous "republican elected official" alluded to in the NYT article.
Maybe if Amo Houghton would fit. Was in office at that time. Wealthy. Definitely on board with the group if he was made its President. (Sorry, Reform Institute. If you're going to play the secret card, then speculation is fair game.)
BOOKMARKED!!! Is Grampa Dave on this thread yet? I want him to see what calcowgirl and others have dug up one MuckCain and SoreA$$ on this thread... PRONTO!!!
