Conference Theme: Global Warming is Not a Crisis
Contracting Business ^ | 2/7/2008

Posted on 02/11/2008 7:30:17 AM PST by Entrepreneur

The 2008 International Conference on Climate Change is the first major international conference to focus on issues and questions not answered by advocates of the theory of man-made global warming.

Hundreds of scientists, economists, and public policy experts from around the world will gather on March 2-4, 2008, at the Marriott New York Marquis Hotel on Manhattan’s Time Square, to call attention to widespread dissent in the scientific community to the alleged “consensus” that the modern warming is primarily man-made and is a crisis.

The goals of the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change are: to bring together the world’s leading scientists, economists, and policy experts to explain the often-neglected “other side” of the climate change debate;
- to sponsor presentations and papers that make genuine contributions to the global debate over climate change;
- to share the results of the conference with policymakers, civic and business leaders, and the interested public as an antidote to the one-sided and alarmist bias that pervades much of the current public policy debate; and
- to set the groundwork for future conferences and publications that can turn the debate toward sound science and economics, and away from hype and political manipulation.

Attendance is limited to 500 people. Those who are urged to attend include elected officials, business leaders, manufacturers associations, trade associations, editors, and publishers.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. It would be pretty cool if a Freeper could slip in with a camcorder and share the presentations with the Internet.

What is really frightening about all this is how long it took the scientific community to shake of a clarly flawed theory. It has been years now since this nonsense took root and in the meantime Al Gore and the AlGoreRhythms have collected an Oscar and a Nobel Peace Price (sorry Al, Obama got the Grammy). It makes you question how scientific consensus is achieved and wonder what other “settled science” is really the result of brow-beating, tenure-withholding and grant-refusal.

Hmmmmmm, did someone mention evolution?

NEWSWEEK: AL GORE NOW WORTH MORE THAN $100 MILLION

[Since 2000, according to published reports, the former veep has transformed himself from a public servant with around $1 million in the bank to a sparkling private consultant with a net worth estimated to be north of $100 million. He’s a senior adviser to Google, a board member at Apple and now a newly minted general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the Silicon Valley venture-capital firm that made billions investing early in Netscape, Amazon and Google. . .If Gore’s profit-sharing deal is anything like the firm’s other 23 partners, he’s also in line to collect tens of millions of dollars a year. That’s because partners carve up 30 percent of the profits if and when the alternative-energy start-ups that KP supports go public or are sold. . .]

Big deal - Means nothing if they are going to limit this to only 500 people.

The media will ignore it (of course) - so the exposure and comment will influence ???

The media probably will ignore it. The fact that the only place I stumbled across this was in an air conditioning trade magazine isn't very encouraging.

However, if the right 500 people are there, it could have an impact. If the presentations are compelling, videotaped, and put on the Internet, they might get some play, especially from the few moderates and conservatives in the media who are looking another side. Just witness the impact that Bob Carter and David Archibald are starting to make.

I hate to be pessimistic, but I'm afraid it will take something like a weak Solar Cycle 24 (if that happens) and dramatically cooler weather for a period of years to get more people to call bull. By that time, we'll be laboring under unbearable carbon taxes, which will surely reduce carbon simply by reducing industrial activity, prosperity, and the pursuit of happiness. The carbon trading schemes will net millions for Gore and his cronies, while doing little or nothing beneficial.

In the future, people will look back on the early 21st century and shake their heads about how stupid and ignorant we were. It's the same way we look at the Salem Witch Trials and the Luddites.

Concur - The sponsor/arrangers would do better to make it “free” and widely available, then OPENLY invite every congresscritter and Senator.

Will they attend? Most, probably not. But he’s GOT to make a show about inviting them on a ten trillion dollar decision.
