I’m most certainly aware that Wiki is full of errors. I was just saving myself from having to explain cafeterianism myself.

How can you be a good Catholic and vote for those who openly support the practice of baby murder?I have Catholic relatives who live in Massachussetts. I'm sure they could give you an explanation.
They'd vote for Hitler if he was a registered Dem.

Not only did you beat me by 3 minutes, you also covered the war and capital punishment issues nicely.

...Catholics are the last swing voters left in the country, said Brian ODwyer, a Manhattan lawyer and a Clinton supporter... And you would think that an organization whose main 'business' is guides our lives with some morality and who cares for the unborn if nothing else, would, as churches do, give the signal to their congregation to vote for Conservative causes.... and yet... SILENCE IS ALL YOU HEAR... What a contrast with the EVANGELICALS!

Can't be done.
Catholic Democrats are beyond my comprehension, and maybe beyond Mother Mary's compassion.

Like I said, you've got two kinds -- the old-line Dems and the C&Es. Sounds like your friend is one of the former.
I live in the South, we haven't got any old-line northeastern Catholic Dems around here. Catholics who vote for pro-aborts are liberals and don't attend Mass or else attend the local equivalent of the notorious St. Joan of Arc.

Read my posts again, and don't be so quick to throw the term 'ignorant' around. Different parts of the country have different situations.
There are no old line working-class NE Democrats in the South, unless they somehow got transplanted intact from the Back Bay or somewhere. There were very few Catholics in the South until recently, except for a few pockets like New Orleans, Mobile, Charleston & Savannah. The entire state of Georgia was one diocese headquartered in Savannah until some time in the 1950s or 60s. Growing up, we had even fewer Catholics around here than we did Republicans!
Pro-abort Catholics in the South are liberal and either non-church-attending or attend one of the way-out hippie parishes where the priest preaches the "seamless garment" doctrine.
