Romney offers Democrats McCain playbook

By GLEN JOHNSON, Associated Press Writer 22 minutes ago

It always sounded innocuous enough, tucked into the adjectives Mitt Romney would rattle off when he described the qualities for the next president.

Wisdom, optimism and the right temperament, said the former Republican presidential candidate.

There was no doubt whom Romney was referring to — rival and likely GOP nominee John McCain, whose short-fuse temper is widely known, especially among his Senate colleagues.

The dig that McCain lacks the comportment to be commander in chief was part of the playbook that Romney used in his unsuccessful bid to secure the Republican nomination. Now it provides a piece of the playbook for either Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton or Sen. Barack Obama in a general election campaign against the four-term Arizona senator.

Among the weaknesses that Romney criticized:

_McCain's admission that he was better versed in foreign affairs and military matters than economic issues.

_McCain's flip-flops both philosophically and on specific issues.

_McCain's alignment with Democrats on taxes, illegal immigration, campaign finance and environmental issues.

Romney stopped short of labeling McCain a liberal, but he said McCain's history of agreements with Democrats would leave voters little more than intangibles with which to distinguish between the Democratic and Republican nominees.

While he never defined those intangibles, Romney suggested McCain would be a liability in a race in which the 71-year-old would be trying to become the oldest person ever elected president, while Clinton was trying to become the first female president and Obama, the first black.

The best thing Romney could do is help defeat McCain. (Not a Mitt fan by the way.)

The best thing Romney could do is get on board as VEEP and let nature take care of the rest!

The Democrats need no "playbook" from Romney to defeat McCain. They have the MSM and McCain's fair-weather Democrat friends to turn on him and ol' Juan McAmnesty will have a meltdown that'll make Howard Dean blush.

Romney as VP on the ticket would only sway me to vote for McCain on the condition that McCain resign the office one minute after he was sworn in.

I’m still voting for Romney if he is on my state’s ballot in May. If he continues to get delegates, maybe he can have greater influence at the convention. It’s not too late for something to happen that could change the whole dynamics of the race.

The best thing Romney could do is watch from the sidelines and wait for 2012.

McCain will advance an agenda that the GOP and Conservatives will have to reluctantly support.

This same agenda, if advanced by Hillary, would be openly opposed by Conservatives and GOP.

on the condition that McCain resign the office one minute after he was sworn in.

It would have to be either during the transition for me, or even better, a voluntary announcement by McCain on election morning, that he was taking the VEEP spot.

...still having trouble processing the notion that some Republicans actually voted for this treasonous quack...

The Dems co-wrote McCain’s playbook with him. Romney is merely adding emphasis to McCain’s true nature as a liberal.

Unfortunately, if the President-elect steps down or otherwise cannot serve prior to being sworn in, then the victory goes to not to the VP on the winner's ticket, but the Presidential runner-up.

Who knows...maybe we'll get lucky and Cheney will finally throw his hat in the ring and marginalize McCain clean off the national platform.

I would agree ... especially when Romney challenges him in 2012.

Bullsh*t.

There is no 'GOP', there is only the RINO Party now, and the only two things conservatives have to do, like any American, is to pay taxes and die.

UPDATE Congress Adjourns - No Amnesty Deal

From Glenn Spencer glenn@americanpatrol.com 11-1-00

LAME DUCK CONGRESS TO DECIDE AMNESTY

Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott just announced that the Senate would be adjourning until November 14.

The amnesty issue will be decided by a lame duck congress and a lame duck president.

If Democrats win, amnesty will pass and we will lose our country.

This election will be a national referendum on amnesty and national sovereignty!

Glenn Spencer

Yesterday, October 31, Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott told a press conference that up to four million illegal aliens may be given amnesty if the Republicans cave in to Bill Clinton. If that happens, it will mean the end of the United States of America as a sovereign nation.

We must do everything we can to stop this.

You must act now or you will lose your nation.

The best thing Romney could do is watch from the sidelines and wait for 2012.

Speaking up about McCain's glaring faults won't hurt Romney with conservatives in 2012. Most conservatives have no use for McCain to begin with and most conservatives are just as vocal in saying the same things about him right now.

Have you seen McCain’s mom?

Have you seen his Dad? He is dead. Completely dead. And he died younger than McCain is now. And he never spent 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton.
