Poland remains loyal in Afghanistan
08.02.2008
Poland will strengthen its troops in Afghanistan, informs RZECZPOSPOLITA.
Review by Aleksander Kropiwnicki
As Bogdan Klich, the Polish Defense Minister announced last Thursday during the NATO meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, by July 2008 the number of Polish soldiers based in Afghanistan would be as high as 1600. NATO cannot lose in Afghanistan if it doesnt want to cause a new wave of terrorist attacks in the West, warned in Vilnius Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, the General Secretary of NATO, quoted by RZECZPOSPOLITA.
All the Polish troops in Afghanistan will be concentrated in one region instead of being split and serving in various provinces, informs DZIENNIK. The newspaper welcomes this announcement of the Polish government. Finally, finally, finally, writes a columnist of DZIENNIK. Poland can control its own zone as it has already been doing successfully in Iraq. If Polish soldiers in Afghanistan serve under their own command, the risk of misunderstandings and unfortunate accidents will be much smaller, claims the columnist.
Hurrah, Poland. She may still be our ally after England is under shariah law.
If ever a people are committed to "Never Again" - it's the Poles - and they know how to fight.,
Did they ever fight hard in '39, and again in the Warsaw uprising of '44. They just didn't have the manpower or the hardware to get the job done.
kinda hard to fight overwhelming troops/tanks when all your guns have already been rounded up - hundreds of thousands died in the camps for nothing more than they hid or helped allies -
I do not think you have a leg to stand on in denigrating the Poles = but you might say your blessings in thanks for never having had to live through what they did - which might have given you a different perspective
I was not being facetious. I was completely serious. They fought their guts out in ‘39, and again in ‘44. Moreover, the Free Polish troops who fought on the Western Front were very respected by all the other allies.
Sorry -
God Love em, and thanks be to God they’re with us. Good solid warfighters. It is amazing that they’re so willing and able after such a short time allowed to recover from the catastrophe of sovietism.
They don’t have much to give but they’re not letting that stop them from giving it.
Salute to the Brave Poles BUMP!
Putin wants to make nice with the Poles. He can see the Polish military in Iraq and Afghanistan is becoming experienced and battle hardened and might not be such pushovers the “next” time.
First thing I thought of.
