The Free Republic Party <vanity>
2-8-2008 | Danae

Ok. Lets just stipulate that most of us are disgusted with BOTH of the Political parties offered us.

Question: Should we start our own?

The Free Republic Party.

If we can raise enough to keep Jim's servers up every quarter, why not take it a step further? Honestly I am SICK of the two party system; for sure I do not relate to the Libertarians or any of the others that are offered. If the best and brightest of the GOP are as disgusted as I am, and I have to believe that a LOT of those in the GOP are members here and are as disgusted, then why not?

I would rather throw my support to taking back our Republican Party.

Assuming that it can be saved of course. I can not say that I believe that any more.

Everything is proceeding according to plan. Don't worry. Be happy. Go back to church. That's the key.

I share your apprehension...but I think we owe it to Reagan's memory to at least try between now and 2012. After that, we can evaluate our options. Fair enough?

The GOP has a cargo ship’s worth of baggage.

Some here are advocating the FALCON party.

FReepers just spent the last year tearing each other apart over political candidates and what aspects are the most important in said candidates.

Do you really think we could agree on enough issues to form a political party?

A political party based on an anonymous forum? What happens when the cables get cut?

The problem is not having a party. The problem is that even our advocates and mouth pieces are not doing their jobs in educating people towards conservatism. Even Rush has become some what empty. I used to like his show because of him highlighting the falsehoods of the left on Gay rights, abortion, environment, homelessness, et. I don’t listen as often now that his show has lost much of the meat that made him what he is. Michael Savage is there and even with his ranting sometimes he is much more in tune with conservatism than our friends Rush and Sean. He calls the Gay extremists what they are, he calls the radical environmentalists what they are, he calls the traitors what they are. Where is the the clarity that led to 1994.

I remember waking that day to delight. We had won big and the political foundations of Washington had shifted. The people had won and suddenly we were going to have a chance to chance things and for awhile we did. Now we run empty candidates who are better suited to be business sales reps and preachers? That is why McCain is where he is because even with his onerous ways he still had more substance than his challengers. Conservatives split their vote for the sham candidates based upon personalities and platitudes and ended up with the “maverick” candidate.

We say we want substance but we vote for people who can not articulate what conservatism is. We say we want a conservative leader and we vote for those who have repeatedly ran away from that light. We say we want a common man who isn’t all for show and we vote for the showmen all the same and when we have someone who talks to us straight with humble respect for our intelligence we deride him.

Another party won’t help things. The Canadians finally got that one right when the conservative leaning parties stopped fighting and finally won for a change. It is not time for us to retreat but we just need to do with McCain what we did with Miers and Amnesty. We need him to know who put him in power and that had better be us. He is not much different than President Bush with the exception he isn’t afraid to go on the attack and for me that will be a welcome change.

I’m tired of being on the defense. Let’s give McCain a chance and realize that in his case given his age the VP may be more important in the long run. Not to wish him ill will but it is just a fact.

I think most Freepers agree that eveyone else is a stupid liberal. Is that a common enough stance to start a party?

I’d advocate the following.

A party of Conservatives who take the GOP BACK - Honestly, America is a “Two Party System” and to drag everyone away from the GOP to form a third, independent party is not going to be easy, nor cheap, and it will be looked at as it has in the past with “Independents”. As a rag-tag organization of “extremists”.

Logically, we should be fighting within the Republican party to bring it back on course, and forcing these idiots who “want to find an ‘electable’ candidate’ or who think one or two things is TOO conservative to leave rather than the rest of us bail out.

In truth, no, there are things I have always disagreed with, within the GOP - and some things, on occasion to me are simply MORE conservative than I truly am myself.

HOWEVER, I HAVE and will CONTINUE to stand by the principles, in action and deed, even if I don’t necessarily agree completely with them. (No, I won’t give examples).

My “loyalty” to this country is without question. And it has rarely been questioned with the GOP since I changed parties many years ago (After I voted for Carter, I realized what a dumb mistake it was - I tried to stand up for him and believe I’d made the right decision, but increasingly he showed me I was stupid for voting for him).

I’m one of the True “Reaganites” that exists. I believed in everything Mr. Reagan stood for - and one of those things was to always stand on Principles in the face of adversity and to continue to show right from wrong, and do those things which are right, and NOT do, nor tolerate those who do WRONG.

In my mind, and in common sense, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and numerous others in the political structure of this country are simply WRONG and trying to do this country WRONG. While they certainly can and do believe in themselves - they refuse to understand that Socialism and Gun Control, and Abortion is NOT RIGHT, they won’t accept those things as wrong.

Until they DO, they need US to show them and fight them politically.

Until the day comes that our society actually falls apart, and we take up arms again as happened in the Civil War for individual’s rights we have to use our system as it works now.

That means fighting WITHIN the system, not with OUT it - and if we create a new party, we are no longer in the “main stream of society” - you become a group that is largely ignored by the media, called names (like fanatic, or Right Wing Kooks) or other things. A group that is seen by the rest of society in the poor light painted by a Leftist media has little chance of succeeding in anything they attempt.

No, while I can see the extreme frustration we’re all feeling (check my Tagline please for whom I believed was the best suited) I can’t completely agree that walking away from the Republican party is the right thing to do.

Instead, while they have tried to “walk away from US”, we need to stand in front of them and redirect the traffic, force those who are NOT Conservative Republicans to come back to the party the way it SHOULD be, not the way the Leftists in America want it to be.

We need to STOP compromising.

STOP working with “the other side”.

Block them at every turn.

Stop playing “Political Correctness Games”.

Tell the truth, and expose the lies.

Fight Socialism at every turn.

We need to fight for America, as a FREE REPUBLIC and we need to continue to be an example for the world... a place where every foreigner seems to want to come. (If America is such a damned bad place as the Left makes it out to be, then why do we actually have so many illegal aliens here again??????)

No, Fellow Freepers... it’s time to take the GOP back from the Left.

Free Republic is a pretty good forum, but it is not free enough for me. When the particular and sometimes peculiar sensitivities and taboo’s of the founding oligarchy are eliminated we can talk.

We could if we'd all just calm down.

Here's one vote for the FReeParty!
