OK it’s a bet. The Dems are going to win by the largest landslide in history. On the bright side I have better than 4 years until I have to worry about who gets my vote for President.

You have to remember it is now marxism that is desired by the ignorant masses. We have been convinced that things are so bad off caused by evil capitalism and the rich republicans(not the Kennedys of course) that the people are begging for “change”. Just what do you think obama and hillary mean by change? They are more well funded than us and have global support. Welcome to the new global tyranny. I wish I could say that an armed revolution in the spirit of the American Revolution could do the trick but reality is that we wouldn't even come close to people understanding it let alone participating in it.

Well the fact of the matter is that many Republicans stayed home tonight (although I did get out there in the pouring rain to cast my vote for Mitt Romney in Massachusetts).

Let's face it, the Obama/Clinton race is far more exciting than the Huckabee/McPain/Romney tilt. In fact, I would not be surprised if many Republican leaning Independents crossed over to cast a vote against the Clintons (my wife was one of them).

However, I think that Americans will turn out in force in November to vote against either Obama or the Clintons (I'm thinking it will be Obama). I'm just hoping it's not McPain that is the GOP nominee.

I, for one, have not lost hope that McPain will not be our nominee.

A. They came so close in ‘00 they almost got away with grand larceny in full view of the country;
B. Came close again in ‘04, but Ohio was more transparent than FLA;
C. They been out of power for eight years and left in shame then;

What would be a surprise would be if they WEREN’T energized on a double dose of black beauties.

30 million illegals with false ID’s all over? Wouldn’t be surprised if a third of them are getting to vote for their handouts to continue.

Yes. We are going to lose big, unless something seriously changes. Right now we are setting up for a perfect storm - weak and despised lame duck president that people don't even want campaigning for them, wing revolt against the nominee, unpopular war still going on, $3 gas, a recession smack in the middle of the election year, and a hungry and excited opposition.

These are the things landslides are typically made from. So buckle up, if you think the primaries are rough, wait until you see the general. And if you think the elections are rough, wait until you see the governing. And if you think the governing and policies are going to be rough, wait until you see what foreign powers are going to do while it plays out.

And everyone, please take a realism pill and cowboy the frack up...

Relax... the RATS have their own perfect storm brewing. When the Evil Witch get nominated due to Super Delegate trickery, a huge number of Obama supporters will be pissed and not vote. Plus Hilterly will set the all time record for negative turnout against her.

Cept when she names him veep.

Can the Dems still blow this? It is possible. But it is not at all likely. I don't need to "relax", but people around here, more than anywhere else on the political spectrum, need a giant dose of humility and realism.

The arrogance on display over the last two months has been simply astounding. Get over it, and the "happy think" that everyone already agrees with us and we are destined to win everything just by standing here. They don't and we aren't.

I don't see him accepting since he will have completely screwed over his message and betrayed his supporters by joining up with the "same old Washington types" strictly for power.

Then you are dreaming, he will take it in a heartbeat. And his supporters will be good little soldiers and say "how high?"

Theirs will be without question the most insanely Marxist ticket in the history of the Republic.

There aren't enough Americans left who see that as a bad thing.

“McCain won’t satisfy the repub base”

I hate to be the one to say it, especially as a certified member of the base, but the republican base is now a minority of a minority and is shrinking every year. The respective primary turnouts, McCain’s success and Limbaugh’s impotence make this entirely evident. Rallying the base simply isn’t going to amount to much. The votes are in the middle and on the center-right.

I've noticed that as well. There seems to be quite a detachment from reality on this forum. Free Republic is no longer representative of mainstream Republicans. It used to be. It isn't anymore. Last night made that perfectly clear.

The best I can hope for is that the Democrats can govern well because they're going to have the reigns for the next few years and I'd never wish for bad stewardship on this nation from either party.
