Is McCain a Conservative? (Novak confirm McCain SAID - "Alito too Conservative")

I found what he could not remember was a private, informal chat with conservative Republican lawyers shortly after McCain announced his candidacy in April 2007. I talked to two lawyers present whom I have known for years and who have never misled me. One is neutral for president, and the other recently endorsed Mitt Romney. Each said they were not Fund's source, and neither knew I was talking to the other.

They gave me nearly identical accounts, as follows: "Wouldn't it be great if you get a chance to name somebody like Roberts and Alito?" one lawyer commented. McCain replied, "Well, certainly Roberts." Jaws were described as dropping. My sources cannot remember exactly what McCain said next, but their recollection is that he described Alito as too conservative.

Is he going to be our nominee? Certainly, not mine & my family, friends.

After watching McCain in last nights debate, I was really depressed. His behavior was awful.

I believe the GOP establishment has promised him the nomination. In otherwards, our votes don’t count.

He is who it will be and there is nothing we can do about it.

does one believe that someone who created McCain Feingold is going to appoint strict constructionist judges? i think not for obviously they are contradictory positions. and we know which one McCain backs passionately and for always! conservatives must unite behind Romney while there is time.

It has become obvious to me that the GOP is no longer the party of conservatives. It is also obvious to me that the GOP no longer cares, wants or needs my support or my vote.

Time for a change. Time for me to look elsewhere. Perhaps I will stay long enough to see who gets the nomination. But if it is any of the remaining three, my time and money would be better spent building a third party.

Could Novak pose a question that’s SOMEWHAT debatable?

Like “Is McCain mentally stable?”

Ron Paul second, at over 34%! I guess we are worn out with them all.

This what happens when the people a party elects have been in office too long. They find ways to continue their cushy positions and minimize the risk of losing them at the expense of the principle that got them there in the first place.

Term limits are probably the best remedy to counter this.

Most likely my move too...if McAztlan gets the nom.

Of course, too many will spout the loser mantra “a vote for a 3d party is a vote for Hillary/Obama”. This mantra is why we get liberal nominees in the GOP....too many lemmings will vote for a label

Good article. Lays out why I won’t be voting for McCain.

This will be the first POTUS election in my life where there is really no candidate that I would consider giving my vote to.

I don’t feel bad for the GOP, because I believe the GOP doesn’t want to win by shoving this foul RINO down our gullets. It is going to be a DOLE year.

If I thought he would protect this country, I would vote for Paul. But he does nothing to make you think he will.
