thanks, RPL. :)
It says he cosponsored HR 4176 (stopping states from licensing or giving IDs to illegals) and HR 4465 (protects employers that require employees to speak English. Salvation Army got sued for doing it).
Good bills, no chance of passage. Ever.
Habla Espanol?
I know Guthrie real well, he’s a tireless campaigner, and on the issues mostly in line with Lewis’s positions, and to the right of him on some economic issues (Lewis had a populist record in recent years on stuff such as farm subsidies, price supports, etc.). Worked with him ever since his first campaign for the seat when Sen. Nick Kafogolis retired, and went door to door for him in Logan County and southern Warren County to make sure the areas that were close or contestable would be in the GOP column come election night. It was a close one, especially watching returns from precints around Adairville and Olmstead in Logan county, as well as out in Plano and Watts Mill here in Warren county, which ultimately carried his initial victory against rodent Ron Murphy. Since then its been more or less a safe district.
In private sector work (KY has a part time legislature, so its not uncommon for them to have day jobs), he’s the director for special projects at Trace Die Cast, and worked under him several years ago (before going up the road to my present job for SHS) on a number of projects that they put out for the auto industry...
an innovator in the private sector, and a conservative hawk, he’s the best choice...
much as I have a great deal of personal respect for him on his record and the issues, I don’t like anyone grooming a staffer to be their successor, but Guthrie is a SOLID conservative
I wonder if Lewis is planning on making Steve Beshear a one term governor.....
