STATEN ISLAND, NY, Jan. 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and full-time Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life, has been named one of the Top Ten People of 2007 by Inside the Vatican magazine.

In naming Dr. King, the magazine called her "one of the leading pro-life voices in America and the world today." "I am humbled and honored by this recognition, but I give all glory to God who allows me to speak on behalf of His children who cannot speak for themselves," Dr. King said.

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director, stated, "All of us at Priests for Life are proud to have Alveda on the team. Through her efforts we have made significant headway in assisting our African-American brothers and sisters to understand that the pro-life movement belongs to them as much as to anyone else. Now is the time for more African-American leadership in defense of the unborn."

Among those named with Dr. King are renowned historian Sir Martin Gilbert, Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, and Sr. Eugenia Bonetti, a worldwide leader in the struggle against human trafficking.

riests for Life is the nation's largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.

Alveda King,a shining light in a sea of darkness.

Why do black people as a whole continue to vote for rats? (rhetorical question) When their babies are being slaughtered way out of porportion to their numbers. It’s the liberal philosophy that’s killing them.

I entered the thread expecting to give Dr. Alveda King a hard time, but it appears she is due this recognition.

Good for her.

Of all the race bating that goes on, it is amazing to me that so few people address abortion for the devastating attack on the black population base that it is. Imagine a program that encourages a race of people to destroy their infants at the rate the pro-life movement does with regard to blacks, and get away with that scot free.

The future of the black race is being stolen IMO, by a bunch of desctructive propagandists who have done as much to destroy opportunity for blacks as anyone in history. Millions upon millions of blacks have never had a voice thanks to the despicable and even racist campaign for choice.

Blacks, I encourage you to think about the options you have been presented, and determine for yourselves if some of your decisions haven’t been self-destructive as a people. And I certainly don’t say this with malace.

I would love to have the opportunity to meet her. I’ve been reading about her for a couple years now and she impresses me as much as anyone in the pro-life movement. I’m certain that her uncle would be firmly behind her if he were still alive.

Please thank her for all of her wonderful work.

I didn’t read all the materials, but those headlines alone leave little doubt that she’s a conservative, urging folks to vote pro-life.

Thank you.

I didn't make it this year, but Dr. Alveda King is involved with this West Coast Walk For Life every year in San Francisco.

I was there last year, I think about 20,000 show up each year.

Lots of cops to keep the hundreds of crazies from harming themselves and others.

Here is a FR thread (with pictures) about the WC Walk For Life Sat, Jan 19th; a few days ago.
