BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Authorities said Kathryn Weldon made it clear to Brevard County deputies when they were arresting her that she was the daughter of a congressman and would have lawyers waiting at the jail.

But deputies said she didn't get any special treatment. Weldon, 21, was booked, put in jailhouse clothing and sat in the Brevard County jail for more than three hours waiting to get bailed out.

The oldest child of republican Congressman Dave Weldon is accused of taking off a high heel shoe and hitting a security guard at the County Line Saloon across the face with it.

Congressman Dave Weldon, MD (R-15) announced he will retire from Congress. He plans to return to private practice and wants to spend more time with his family.

There is a scramble to see who will run for the Republicans to fill the seat. Weldon already had Democrat opposition from another space coast MD.

No matter who fills the seat, the space coast has lost seniority at a time of great concern about the gap that follows the retirement of the space shuttle.

Pretty girl

It must be particularly difficult to be both attractive and kind. ...attractive and humble. ...attractive and hard-working.

I have seen far too many attractive people who successfully use their looks for advantage, and let what's real kinda slide.

"After talking with her we feel quite certain she did nothing to merit her arrest and believe this will be collaborated by others," Congressman Weldon wrote.
In the meantime, his 8th grade English teacher is planning to send the congressman a dictionary so that he can learn the difference between collaborated and corroborated.

Yes, he has been rock solid. A sure conservative vote on most everything. I'm not sure the same is waiting in the wings.

There is more info available in the local newspaper which doesn't allow us to link. It isn't FloridaYesterday.com or FloridaTomorrow.com but Florida_____.com. This will hit the Orlando papers too.

Well, unless he is engineering a cover-up in plain sight. :)

Never underestimate the power of a spell-checker or auto correction word processor to introduce a type of that nature, though. I suspect Congressman Dave had a lot on his mind today so he deserves a little slack if his proof-reading isn't up to snuff.

Why do I have the sneaky suspicion that if he was a Democrat, the paper would have left that detail out?

LOL! I hadn't considered that possibility.

Never underestimate the power of a spell-checker or auto correction word processor to introduce a type of that nature, though. I suspect Congressman Dave had a lot on his mind today so he deserves a little slack if his proof-reading isn't up to snuff.

The mistake could have happened anywhere along the chain from his original dictating of the memo all the way through to the newspaper printing it. If his office made the error and the paper caught it, though, they should have annotated it with the "[sic]" designation.

Not anymore. This is a building in the back of the Waffle House on US 192 at I-95 in West Melbourne. You are remembering the old place and it is now either a bingo hall or was in the plaza nearby that got demolished by the hurricanes a few years back.

Uh, they probably should look for some corroborating witnesses. On the other hand, maybe he said what he meant, that the witnesses have collaborated. He's, after all, a congressman.

Maybe we can use our local energy to support his replacement. I had wondered what I would be doing during the fall races.

He plans to return to private practice and wants to spend more time with his family.

So now that the Republicans are in the minority and the horizon looks bleaker still for the party, he going to cash in his chips for a lobbying gig. I wonder which NASA contractor corporate board he will be "lawyering" for.

The primary for the FL-15 house seat (and FL-24) will be August 26, 2008 and the general election Nov 4, 2008. So there is time for a decent field to develop.

Investigators said depending on what doctors say about how bad the cut is on Solis' face, authorities could ask the state attorney's office to upgrade the charges from misdemeanor battery to felony battery.

Oh! so if she just bruised his face with the foot of the shoe its a misdemeanor but if she ripped his face open with the spike of the heel it is a felony?

Toss the little wench in the clink and let her bear the burdon of her actions. Its assault clear and simple

Do we know what he said, or do we just know what the media says he said? Maybe he got it right but somebody wrote it down wrong. Most spell-checks wouldn’t help, because both are real words spelled correctly.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

When we elect someone to office, we get them, their wives, their children, their baggage...

We need to look at the whole picture...

Well, you will say, we are only electing one person as POTUS, sentor, congressman etc...

Think...

With Carter we got Billy Beer...

(Although his sister was a preacher and his Mom in the Peace Corp)

With Bill Clinton we got Hillary... (two for one)

NYC had to endure the embarrassment of Rudy announcing his desire for a divorce to his wife in a loud and clear public forum

President Bush has had trouble with the twins..

No seemingly wholesome family is immune for black sheepitis...

Can you say “Kennedy”
