Even more maddening and embarrassing and shameful is that the place remained a hole in the ground for almost five years after the attack. As soon as the debris was cleared they should have started rebuilding there bigger and better than what was there before. But we piddled and moped around for almost five years before finally deciding on what to build there.

What did anyone expect when everyone claimed Ground Zero as their own turf and a war ensued with special interests trying to create theaters, left-wing museums, graveyards and the like...
