meanwhile the Hastings bridge is badly in need of repair and our legislators are worried about how to fund light rail for another billion...
Give the 500K to the lady the 8-month pregnant woman and her ordeal. As for the kids on the bus, not so much if anything.
This reporter must be a product of public schools.
No comment? This does not appear [on the surface, anyway] to have the cash grab potential of other disasters such as, for example, Katrina.
Then again...
I’d be ok with a victim compensation fund if it had auditors making sure every medical expenses had proof with it and they are reimbused only for medical expenses
and lost wages.
IMHO, accidents shouldn’t be like winning the lottery.
True victims in this case deserve to be compensated.
This deserves more than a letter of apology and a picure of the state bird signed by the governor.
Good. I hope that they will be able to pry loose the real reason the bridge collapsed instead of the whitewash that was released a few days ago.
I wasn't aware that a brige could collapse
I have not seen someone correct my spelling since the days of Willie Green.
I wasn't aware that a brige could collapse
Heck, yeah! None of this hurts the politicians. The state’s taxpayers are footing the bill for this, so why not press on ahead with new spending?
The ones responsible are not the ones who will pay for this. It stinks.
I don’t blame these people for suing. Too bad it won’t prevent another incident.
Cordially,
They only come in one color: Yellow.
Cordially,
Me too.
Not always. Ive seen them with different colors, including private school busses.
There just aren’t any accidents anymore is there? Always a lawyer and people looking to make a buck.
“The state set up a $1 million emergency relief fund in November, but so far only 11 bridge victims have claimed a total of $57,862 in lost wages.”
This statement is not consistent with the extent of damage reported elsewhere in the article. All that tells me is that there is a discrepancy somewhere.
True victims in every case deserve to be compensated. It’s too bad that some would take advantage of that, no reference to any of these victims intended.
The victims ovciously cannot represent themselves in court, and if they could they would get torn apart by the state’s lawyers.
If they don’t hire a lawyer, who do they hire?
These are the kinds of cases that deserve a trial lawyer.
