Michigan Primary Exit Poll Results: Romney Leading
Huliq ^

Posted on 01/15/2008 3:05:03 PM PST by Plutarch

According to a report prepared by Edison Media Research for AP and published in Startribune the initial Michigan primary exit poll results favor Republicans and the Democrats seem to be minority. We project the winner of the Michigan primary exit poll results to be the Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

People are saying that economy is one of the most important issues for the voters in Michigan and those who go to the polls. Michigan's economy has been hit very heart as the unemployment is above 7 percent in the state.

More precise results of the Michigan Primary will come out this evening.

"Preliminary results from exit poll by Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International for The Associated Press and television networks. Partial samples in 40 precincts around Michigan of 873 voters in the Republican primary and 588 in the Democratic contest. Sampling error plus or minus 5 percentage points in each primary."

UGH! Not exit polls! Man, I wish they would stop publishing this garbage.

(BTW, this is no sleight on Romney since he's better than McCain or Huckles, imho. I just hate exit polls.)

Doesn't sound professionally written. It appears to be a leak.

Intrade appears to give it some credence. Romney up to 74.9

One problem I see with exit polls is that they’re taken in larger cities. Little towns like mine probably have a higher per capita turnout and tend to be far more conservative.

Key numbers from the AP report

2000 - 48% Republican voters, 52% Crossover (ind/dems)

Today - 67% Republican Voters, 33% Crossover

That is a BIGTIME Plus for Romney who leads McCain by double digits among Republicans in Michigan.

This could quite possibly be a decisive Romney win, which would stick a fork in McCain bigtime.

If Romney wins by 5 or more, McCain's numbers will PLUMMET in South Carolina.

In 2000, Republicans made up only 48 percent of the GOP primary electorate; Tuesday they were two-thirds of it.

I really don't get the reasoning behind open primary. If it only to show the marketability, they can have a separate poll for Dims/independents who want to vote for Republican and vice versa.

Are you saying that huckabee is a stronger candidate than the others?

Huckabee might lose 35 - 37 states.
He would lose in a landslide.

Conservatives in Iowa and NH favored Romney over Huck and McCain. Liberal Pubbies and crossover Dems favored Huck and McCain.

In NH, 39% of the voters in the Republican primary said Slick Willard played dirty the most. No one else got more than 10%.

Sorry, Dems and Indies are not showing up at the polls, it’s a victory among Republicans.
