Speaker Hastert backs Romney

GRAND BLANC -- On the evening before Michigan's primary, Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert had words of encouragement for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's campaign volunteers.

"You're work getting people to the polls and getting them to check the right delegate has paid off," Hastert told about 20 campaign volunteers and supporters Monday at Romney's Grand Blanc campaign operations center, 5225 E. Cook Road. "We can't do it without folks like you."

Hastert -- who also has worked with Republican presidential candidates Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, and John McCain during his political career -- said Romney has the background and presidential presence needed to lead the country.

He praised Romney's ability to bring delegates to the table to resolve issues quickly.

Hastert said he's confident Romney will gain the support of Michigan voters in Tuesday's primary. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, came in second in Iowa and New Hampshire.

He stopped in Grand Blanc early Monday to speak to area students at Grand Blanc High School.

"I think we can win Michigan," Hastert said. "There's a good feeling and a good presence and we're moving forward."

One more good reason to avoid Governor Romney. Hastert fiddled while Congress burned.

Hastert didn't do nothing. He ate plenty when he was speaker.

Thanks Denny, for Pelosi and the 2006 election debacle. Your leadership really shined through. I’ll keep that in mind when considering your endorsement. /UltraMegaDrippingSarc

Well, THAT is ONE reason NOT to vote for Romney.

Anybody the Tower of Jelly endorses gets an endorsement as worthy as Kerry’s of Obama.

Hastert graduated from Wheaton College, and is technically an Evangelical. But if you didn’t know that, you’d never guess it.

Yes, he was a weak and feeble leader, another of a long string of Republican congressional disappointments.

Hastert also courageously waddled to action in defense of William Jefferson : Dimocrat - Louisiana

"You're work getting people to the polls and getting them to check the right delegate has paid off,"

I totally read that wrong:

"You're getting people to the polls and getting them to check that the right delegate has been paid off,"

Did der Fliptmeister accept it? He shares a great deal of responsibility for Stretch Pelosi being Speaktress of the House.

Denny, was a nice guy but no one would ever call him a conservative. He is too much like Bush and the boys.

Hastert is not an endorsement I would want. The fat slob was a disaster as Speaker.
