WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Edmund Hillary once expressed surprise that it was he -- "an ordinary person with ordinary qualities" -- who became the first man to conquer the world's tallest peak.

He spent the rest of his life telling the story of the climb up Mount Everest that made him one of the 20th century's best-known adventurers. But he maintained his reputation for humbleness, while working to aid the impoverished people of Nepal.

Hillary died at Auckland Hospital about 9 a.m. Friday from a heart attack, said a statement from the Auckland District Health Board. Though ailing in his later years, he remained active.

Namesake of Hillary Clinton.

Never mind that she was born 6 years before he climbed Everest. The Rodhams of the Chicago suburbs just happened to want to name their daughter after an unknown New Zealand beekeeper...

At least he had the pleasure of knowing that the parents of our shrillest presidential candidate were prescient enough to honor him even while he was still an obscure New Zealand beekeeper.

He will have nice view of Everest out of his mansion (his eternal body) atop Mt. Zion (Heaven on Earth). Great Christian man, and loved the high places, both natural and spiritual.

Such a liar needs to be outed as manytimes as it takes for the general public to wake up.

Somebody should tell the reporter it’s ‘humility’ not ‘humbleness’.

But that’s just me.

A great man and may he rest in peace.
