I also think you overstate your case. You might have a problem in the areas you identify, if you’re walking around there at midnight, but during the day, you can pretty much go anywhere - - I know, because I do.
or if you go to Miami, you just walk around the Overtown during the day cause it's SAFE? That's kinda funny. I had relatives that lived north of Florence in LA and will/would never go back...it's a dump and dangerous in the day and at night.
I've been lost in Miami and wandered through Overtown in a car, thank God I had CCW permit, and got back on the highway ASAP.
Road the train in Chicago and was asked what "you boys doing on this train?" Which was a GREAT question. Took the wrong one headed in the wrong direction. We got off and called the cab.

So no, I don't think I've overstated that there are areas of the country that you shouldn't travel in.
