'Compact' on health expected from Patrick (Failings of Romney-care as quality crumbles)
Boston Globe ^ | December 18, 2007 | Alice Dembner

Governor Deval Patrick is expected to announce tomorrow that he is launching a major effort to tackle healthcare problems - including soaring costs and the elusive goal of quality - through a coordinated approach across state government.

The state "compact" on health will bring together agencies overseeing prisons, law enforcement, finance and insurance with healthcare behemoths insuring millions of state residents and workers, according to three individuals who have been briefed on the plans but requested anonymity because they were asked to keep the information confidential until tomorrow.

The administration declined to comment in advance of the announcement.

The goals include slowing the growth of spending, eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in medical care, improving disease management, promoting healthy behavior, and expanding access.

Apparently it's getting worse up there, not better.

...

I can't understand why Mitt Romney is even considered a Republican. Let the man enjoy a peaceful retirement with his beautiful family or return to his business.

Whatever that business is, it should not consist of representing the American people as President.

No, I don't hate Mitt because he's a Mormon (we have some wonderful Mormons in our family.) I despise Mitt's policies and propensity to forward corrupted "big government in your pocket" programs that will leech the very soul of our nation if he gains power as POTUS.

The man needs to be sent home.

It is apparently hitting some that the mess Romney left MA
ie. HillaryClinton'sSOCIALIZEDmedicine, is going to cost the state taxpayers
yet another 1/2 to 2 billion dollars per year.

No problem for Romney, who is elsewhere, mutating.

Romney signs his RomneyCARE (=HillaryCARE) socialized medicine
surrounded by beaming Democrats who cannot believe their luck at having such a fine RINO.

Sen. John Kerry to Don Imus: "I like this health care bill".

Sen. Hillary Clinton: "To come up with a bipartisan plan in this polarized environment is commendable."

Well, at least when the “Shiite hits the fan,” the great unwashed masses will blame Gov. Patrick, DEMOCRAT, Massachusetts.

I’m not so sure about that. I think there will be a full-court press to make sure this is hung firmly around Romney’s neck where it belongs. The real problem is that it kicks open the door for Patrick and the RATS to say the only solution to healthcare is full-fledged socialized medicine.

Romney and the democrats have exterminated primary care (i.e. the family doctors) with their ultra low ball fee structure. The result is identical to the Canadian system, if anybody does any research (dead silence from the media).

I predict: the Democrat governor's "major effort" will include more government handiwork and intrusion!

Some people think Mitt Romney was wrong in requiring people to buy insurance, just wait 'til the 'rats in that state get their fingers around the throat of health care...the solution will be a real strangulation of capital markets.

All this, it seems, based upon some difficulties in the health care industry in the Bay State.

Just watch: the 'rats "solution" will make it worse. Much worse.

Governor Romney Says "HillaryCare 2.0" Is "The Wrong Direction" For America, Press Conference outside St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City, 9/17/2007 Gov. Mitt Romney: "HillaryCare continues to be bad medicine. Hillary Clinton fundamentally believes in Washington. She doesn't believe in the American people. ... In her plan, we have government insurance, instead of private insurance. ... In her plan, it's crafted by Washington. It should be crafted by the states. ... I think she takes her inspiration from European bureaucracies and instead we should take our inspiration from the American people. ... In her plan, we have government Washington managed health care. Instead, we should rely on the private markets to guide health care. And in her plan, you see increased taxes. The burden should not be raised on the American people. ... She fundamentally does not believe in markets and does not believe in states."

Governor Romney secured the enactment of a market-based, private sector health care reform plan supported by the Heritage Foundation, America’s premier conservative think tank.

The Massachusetts health care reform law enacted by Governor Romney is not socialized medicine. It is not a single-payer system involving government takeover and control of medical care in the state. It is not HillaryCare 2.0 which would force all the states to comply with a single plan, expand government insurance and controls, and require huge tax increases.

The Massachusetts plan instead stresses personal responsibility in paying for private health insurance, selected from a large number of available insurance plans, while providing subsidies to low-income residents without requiring new taxes.

The 'Rats have two problems with the current program:

1. It didn't go far enough -- Government is not in charge of everything.

2. It wasn't created by a Democrat -- therefore, it must be destroyed.

Over the next two years we will see the costs of this boondoggle skyrocket and Massachusetts will have no choice but to raise taxes at an unprecedented rate (which is incredible considering the liberal nature of the state).

Unfortunately, the great implosion won't happen until after the Republican Convention.
