Who puts a gun to peoples heads and forces them to use these payday lenders? Someone pulled a Glock to my temple this afternoon and told me to take out some money.
There I was, struggling with the assailant...< /pulp fiction novel >

You can’t, but some do gooder is sure gonna try. He’s going to screw things up even more, but its for the cheeeeeldren, right? Wait, are we talking about cigarettes, fatty foods or soda pop? It’s the same conversation every time, it’s hard to tell the difference. Oh that’s right, payday loans! EEEEEVEL! Someone needs to take this guy out back and put him out of our misery. Damn lawyer politicians.

These type loans came about because of the legislature. You can bet members of the legislature made big bucks off of them, just like Carolina Investors. The nanny state doesn't allow gambling but yet they entice the poorest to gamble on the lottery and turn around with their disclaimers on TV.It amazes me how states can authorize gambling and fine the average citizen for gambling without their license. Also, anyone who has to borrow from pay day to pay day to make ends meet is in dire straights and digging a hole from which they cannot get out.For years I have gotten numerous offers for credit cars telling me how easy it is to get them. The public in general is not being protected by those we elect,we are being stolen from and the lack of education doesn't help one bit. A real educated public would throw these monkeys out on their behinds but I guess it pays to be ignorant, it is just who gets the payoff.

It's easy to condemn both payday loans and those who use them.
However, as one who has used payday loans, I will say that sometimes people get desperate, maybe they panic, and it seems like payday loans are the only alternative at the time.
I fail to see how banning them will help the people who most need them.

Best to drive that demand back underground where mobsters and drug dealers are the lenders and interest charges include body parts.

"They're making far too much money to accept any meaningful regulations," said Hawkins, R-Spartanburg. By this logic Coke, Pepsi, and McDonald's have got to go!
These payday loan scammers will go away when people quit going to them. It's real hard for me to sympathize with somebody stupid enough to go to them. I guess people think that if they have a suite in a strip mall and have a nice storefront, they must be legit.
