DES MOINES, Iowa - Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered a campaign sermon Sunday, but didn't stick around to hear the pastor do his preaching.
"We're still at church. We're still going to worship no matter what," the Rev. Lee Maxey said as the Democratic presidential candidate, her daughter, Chelsea, and their entourage left Corinthian Baptist Church, the media pack close behind.
Clinton stayed for about 20 minutes and, when she spoke, noted her support for children's rights.
The New York senator also highlighted a chapter in her book, "It Takes a Village," that talks about every child needing a champion. She said most children have someone in that role and she'd like to fulfill it for the whole country.
"I think the American people need a president who is their champion. And I've been running to be that champion to get up every single day and do all that I can to make sure I provide the tools that every single American is entitled to receive and make the most out of their own lives," Clinton said.
And with that, she hurried out.
The Rev. James Green took a poke at the just-departed Clinton as he began his sermon.
"When I first got here I was a little overwhelmed. All the dignitaries came in," he said. "I thought they were going to stay for service, but they're still campaigning."
Earlier this year, Democratic candidate Barack Obama also joined the mostly black congregation.
He, too, left early.

There the Dems go, campaigning in churches and berating the Republicans for “using religion.”
You mean you're still going to worship WITHOUT Hillary?
Is this Rev. some kind of dope?
yep, it is all about HIllary isn’t it? LMAO! I bet the congregation was a bit dissapointed.
Ahhh. She’s wearin’ her royal garb today.
Abortion on demand--any time, any place, any reason, any age.
There was no need to worship. (She) GOD had left the building! /sarc
Maybe she was afraid someone was going to throw holy water on her.
No.
That's just a lace Mao Suit.
Just because the golden calf leaves the building doesn't mean the worshippers stop bowing and praying.
Voting for H911LARY is like the chickens voting for Col Sanders........
Bump.
That pretty much sums up Hillary. She can provide the "tools" we are "entitled" to receive. I don't like the sound of that!
LOL
So very true!
But to use someone's pulpit and congregation and then scoot is the height of arrogance and rudeness. Then again, one doesn't expect an 'oink' out of a cow
This is what happens when you allow your church to be used as a place for a stump speech. And, they’re surprised she’s not going to stay to worship.
Oh gag me! (What a phony!)
No doubt filled her doggy bag up at the pot luck table on the way out the door too.
“give people the tools.....blah blah blah” was originally uttered by her husband the Bent One. It’s right in line with her awful Christmas commercial. I would cheerfully rip both their faces off.
Haha. Her crackling purse was camo'ed with silk but the 'oink' gave it away.
The Corinthian Baptist Church ought to be on the receiving end of an IRS investigation.
How absolutely ... i.n.a.p.p.r.o.p.r.i.a.t.e. !!!
Maybe she was afraid she would be struck by lightning for lying in church.
Is he one of those Abortion til the First Breath, Baptist Ministers? What does he expect?
Pray for W and Our Troops
Is that an Evita statement or what? Or a Bhutto statement?
Come on, Iowans - stand up and say - We do not need nor want you to be our champion......GO AWAY!
If a Republican spoke in a church like this, gave a campaign speech, then left before the worship service, the MSM would be outraged. If I went to the church in question, I would be outraged by such a blatant disregard for the real reasons for church on Sundays.

Normal Mao Suit Fancy Mao Suit
Kinda how Hillary is in New York. Spend a few minutes, talk some b.s., collect a check, and run!
Um, I can't find any entitlements at all in the Constitution. Zero. Nada. Zilch.
You have the freedom to pursue happiness (not attain it, merely pursue it), and you have the right to have others leave you alone, but you do not have any claim to anyone else's labor for your benefit, at least as far as government is concerned. If you are a minor and your parents do not adequately provide for you, the law already allows you to be placed in foster care. But that's it, and that's all it should be.
This may be entirely the wrong take on it, but I think she insulted the reverend. He gave her the courtesy of a podium (I have a problem with any politician in churches unless they attend as a regular worshipper) and she couldn't give him the time or courtesy of listening to what he had to say which was just as important to him, even if were something I (or she) might disagree with.
That speaks volumes. I think it might leave a bitter impression on him and some of the others the rest of their lives. Maybe I am wrong. But just maybe a few people got a wake up call at that church.
I once found myself in an all-black church just north of Chicago when my ignition froze up; I was in a bad part of town at night looking for the catholic church. I went inside looking for help, and the people were very welcoming, all dressed in their Sunday best like church was something special which it is. It warmed my heart to see that.
I humble myself, realizing I'm not too good to go to a black church. If I would sit and stay for the service, afterwards they would help and call a tow truck for me. So I sat there politely, the only white person in the church, regret that I can't remember the sermon, but their actions spoke louder than any words. I felt no fear whatsoever of those kind people.
Things could have gone very badly for me otherwise.
True to their word, after the service, they called a church member who owned a tow truck, and he towed my car to the dealership, then gave me a ride to where I was staying. I wasn't afraid, but it was unusual to say the least. When I invited him inside at my aunt's to wait while I could ask her to write a check for him (she was ill), the Polish lady who was helping me, her eyes went as wide as saucers.
I paid him, thanked him, and he left, can't remember why I didn't have enough money, only an out-of-state checkbook. It was a positive experience I will never forget. I don't remember the denomination, doesn't matter. I could find that church again if I wanted to, bless those people.
I like Fred.
In a church? Doesn't that violate some sort of leftist state separation law?
Take it easy on the double posts. Kinda hard on the eyes - mine, not her’s...
If you do something good, maybe ten will hear about it. If you mess up, count on each person you offended telling at least 100 more.
BRETT FAVRE’S WIFE TO START FOR PACKERS
MRS. BRETT FAVRE TO START FOR PACKERS
The Green Bay Packers delivered a shocking announcement today. Their
starting quarterback this Sunday will be Mrs. Deanna Favre, who will
play for Brett during the first quarter.
Fans in Green Bay were shocked when this announcement was made, but
Mrs. Favre assured the fans that, “Hey, I know this game. I live with
Brett. I have taken several road trips on the team plane. I’ve gone
to the pre-game meals. I know a lot of the Packer players. I’ve
played with a lot of the Packers in our back yard. I’ve tossed the
football with them, and I know what a slot right
60-Prevent-Slot-Hook- And-Go is and I know how to avoid a corner blitz.”
So they polled the people in Green Bay, 50% of Packers fans are
excited, motivated, and looking forward to the big game.
All right, you think that’s ridiculous?
Let me reread this:
Mrs. Hillary Clinton announced that she is running for president of
the United States because she knows Bill Clinton and has lived with
him, and she was there on a lot of trips to China and around the
world, and she really cared about kids for 35 years. She’s fought and
she stood up for kids, and she’s tried to fix health care, and she
knows fifty percent of the American people say, “That’s good enough for us.”
Hammers and sickles, just as her materialist progenitors, Marx, Engels and Alinsky, had in mind for us, whom that "world-class genius" (sic) projects to be the proletariat.
HF
Maybe each one of them will tell 10 others and send a few emials....
Apparently Obama did the same thing at the same church. I guess the 'rats and their subjects understand each other.
I reckon the good pastor, whether or not he still plans to vote for Hillary after this, operates on two principles:
1. There is a God.
2. Although Hillary may believe otherwise, she ain’t Him.
