Where The Elite Meet (modest Barf Alert)
The Hartford Courant ^ | December 28, 2007 | Greg Morago

When Tracey Carter asked one of the hosts at West Hartford's new Cheesecake Factory restaurant how long the waits were on a Friday night, she couldn't believe her ears. Two hours. Three hours. Sometimes longer.

"I was shocked. Three hours? I never dreamed someone would wait three hours," said Carter, a Hartford resident who recently dined at the crammed-to-the-rafters restaurant. "I could drive to New York and get a fish sandwich in that time."

True, but anyone who'd decline to cool their heels would miss out on one of Greater Hartford's most popular new activities: the waiting game at Cheesecake Factory.

If there's one thing I can't stand it's waiting like, an hour, at a restaurant. What a waste of time. There's a Cheesecake Factory in King of Prussia. Been there once, had to wait a long while. Never again.

An hour to eat at Cheesecake Factory?!? What a joke.

Those people are pathetic.
Do they all whip out their Mac laptops while they wait?

Strange people.

I don’t think CF is that great anyway.

To each his own.

OK, I grew up about 90 mins west of Hartford and I realize there may not be much to do, but a THREE HOUR wait for a Cheesecake Factory meal?! Are people out of their minds? Did the loss of the Whalers reduce the inhabitants of this town to such a state of desperation?! C’mon people: there has to be something better to do in the area than spend 3 hours waiting to dine at a so-so eatery...

Perhaps a “heavy burp alert?”

We have a Cheesecake Factory near us...in a *very* swanky mall.I’m sure the mall stores love to see folks waiting for hours to be seated.”Gee,honey, let’s check out that jewelry store now that we have some time to kill”.

The “elite” for this reporter wait 3 hours at the Cheesecake Factory. That’s not exactly Monet on the walls is it?

I ate there once. I was not impressed by any part of the experience.

Sorry, this is just one of things that the Mcdonald’s get in 3 minutes diner is never going to understand. Those who don’t want to wait should by all means avail themselves of Applebees and similar shrines to mediocrity. Chances are that particular clientèle will never know the difference anyway.

I might wait if it was actually worth it. Cheesecake Factory is a joke. They’ve got a 20 page menu of stuff that’s no better than junk from Ruby Tuesday’s and it’s 3x the price. Thanks, but I think I’ll pass.

Only a lib would wait for 3 hours at the Cheesecake Factory.

As for me, I’ll head over to my local diner, and get a burger.

The Cheesecake Factory is just as much a shrine to mediocrity as Applebee’s. It’s just that mediocrity is much more expensive at CF.

LOL!!!! I hope this is satire.

There is nothing “fine” about Cheesecake Factory, it’s just another chain restaurant. Nobody even goes to the one at The Grove in LA (which I’ve been to, never had to wait) because it’s overpriced crap.

"There's a Cheesecake Factory in King of Prussia"

You waited 20 years of 'Road Under Construction' for that PA Turnpike/Route#76/Route#363/Route#202 tie-in to be finished there in King of Prussia, what's an hour? LOL

hehehe. Good point, though I moved to the area in 2001, so didn't have to wait as long as the natives did.
