This is why I canceled my subscription to the National Geographic a few years ago after reading it for almost all of my life. The transformation of the Geographic Society and it’s magazine into an activist political tool became too much to bear. All those many years of the Geographic magazine in slip cases thrown in the trash... :-(

I quit the National Geographic as well. The trigger was finally that issue during the election period...which came out a month before the presidential election...with the entire issue on global warming. It had turned into a political junket, and not a respected magazine. They reportedly lost around five percent of their subscriptions after that incident.

I can remember as a kid...when it was absolute reading...and you actually learned alot from reading it...on geography and culture. Today...its more of a environmentalists tool.
