Less than was asked, and as a result of a populist riot, but he had to sign it.
That it sticks in your craw pleases me no end, too.
Nobody wants the fence except the taxpayers footing the bill for it.
Big business doesn’t want it, and that includes Limosine Liberals.
That takes in all of the ruling class, essentially.
We are led by Quislings. How does this happen?
U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4:
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,
1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.
Is this funding part of the $519 billion spending bill that the house passed today? Is the $1.5 billion for Mexico's WOD in the spending bill? I have actually tried to find this buy couldn't.
Yes, he asked for more, but signed the funding for the fence that Congress agreed to.
Which is to say, President Bush asked for fence funding (per your own words above), got some of it, and signed it into law.
PS - the original fence legislation -- for the 14 miles -- was submitted in 1994 by Hunter, passed in 1996.
Foot dragging by both Presidential incumbents since then has been responsible for slow progress. If Bush had wanted to, he could have pushed it on Day 1 of his first term.
But he didn't.
Thanks for the link. However, there has been efforts by the open borders crowd in congress to downsize the amount of money for the fence. Evidently, the money for the fence must be reappropritated for each new budget.
I did find this article. It explains that new money in the billions has been appropriated for the fence but didn’t say how much.

I also wonder if money, 1.5 billion, was appropriated for Mexico for the war on drugs.
Liza ~ "Dem Dembocrats sho' 'nuff lak de own slabes; yessirree!"
Uncle Tom ~ "Dey kips bringan' dem Mex'can folks in so de kim wirk dem fo' free!"
Enough of this stuff and it might be time to restart the grand work proposed by William Wilberforce about 200 years ago and just purge these slavers out of our society.
The Democratic nominee will greatly appreciate that.
