A federal judge has set the corruption case of Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) for Feb. 25.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis reluctantly granted Jefferson's lawyer's request for a continuance. But he gave them an extra six weeks instead of the four months they sought.

"You'll just have to get it done," Ellis said.

The nine-term congressman is accused of taking more than $500,000 in bribes and demanding millions more for himself and his family members from 11 different companies interested in securing business contracts in Africa.

How long does it take for them to think up a good excuse for having cash in the freezer?

Anyone who thinks this is going to be allowed the media time needed to affect the election is dreaming. Look for this in the "In Other News..." segments, and that for when he's sentenced--unlike the Scooter Libby trial, which of course needed all that coverage because the fate of the planet hung in the balance if that scoundrel was found not guilty!

He’s a Black or African American who will do the old time “shuffle” and will demand redemption because he was “placed” into an awkward but “explainable” position.... yeah right! He was tempted by the money, took it, got caught, and now he’s in a bit of a situation. Certainly, he’ll get off, because his kind always gets a break.

You nailed it. We’ll get the victim pose, and George Bush will be mentioned at some point in the opening arguments—about how he is a threat to black men and needs to be stop. Plus, Jefferson was delivering toys to sick kids at the time.

This clown is dirty a hell and if he were a Republican he’d have been thrown out of the House long ago.
But he is a dem and black and is just business as usual in the dems realm.
