Pro-homosexual Philadelphia officials' campaign to evict the Boy Scouts of America from their long-held regional headquarters on city-owned ground will create a precedent that could endanger dozens of other groups in the city, including the Catholic Church, as well as museums and a public radio station.
The issue: The City Council has decided the Boy Scouts, because they prohibit participation by open homosexuals, do not comply with the city's anti-discrimination policies and can no longer rent their headquarters for $1 a year, as they have since the city approved its original resolution on the plan 80 years ago.
The city had set a Dec. 3 deadline for the Scouts' Cradle of Liberty Council to agree to pay $200,000 a year, instead of $1, but the Scouts simply ignored that deadline, and negotiations apparently have broken off.
Assuming there are no changes in circumstances, that would mean the Scouts would have to be out of the building, which they built and paid for with their own funds decades ago, on June 1.
That left many, including a black leadership organization called Project 21, headed by WND columnist Mychal Massie, enraged.
"I live close to Philadelphia and am aware of the problems plaguing the city," said Project 21 member Jimmie Hollis. "The fact that the City Council is taking exception to the Boy Scouts is an outrage. With so much to fix, why are they so willing to instead hobble an organization trying to help people?"

Yeah, that’s kind of the crux of what bothers me the most about this case. If that’s true I feel the city has renegged.
But I can’t say that I’m surprised; Philly recently produced some kind of proclamation making itself a “pro-abortion city”. Yuck!
Now they’re riding the BSA and Catholic Church out on a rail? Exactly who does that leave behind in the City of Brotherly Love??
This is one of those Clinton Era Legacies. While the media is so busy pressing GOP candidates for their position on issues like the Confederate Flag and creationism, someone ought to ask Bill’s wife what she thinks of this!

I would like to see now how much of Romulo’s (another city sycophant) work time (paid by tax dollars) is spent on homosexual issues. It would seem to me that he then would be guilty of the same thing that he is stopping with the Boy Scouts. If I were the Boy Scouts I would be suing the city for breach of contract as well as all the costs of building, maintaining and improving the actual building.
If the city can breach their agreement...the Boy Scouts should then be able to take back the granting of the building itself to the city.
I thought that there was also a clause in Philly’s housing laws that put a percentage cap on rent increases? I heard that even raising the rent to $2 would violate that.
Not to mention there is already an agreement signed into law with the Scouts. Good luck. If need be, the Scouts should demo the building.

I have been following this case in the Philly Inquirer, and this is the first time I have heard that the BSA built and paid for this building. Funny the Inquirer never saw fit to mention that little fact.

City Councilman Darrell L. Clarke clearly has a disordered mind. And to think that Philadelphia was once a great city. It is this kind of warped and twisted thinking that will destroy this country.
