"Waterboarding involves wrapping plastic or fabric around a detainee's face then pouring water over the top until it is forced up the nose and down the throat to simulate drowning."

This is confusing to me. If the face is covered then how does water get into the nose and mouth? Just how much of the face is covered? And if the water does get down the nose and mouth, then why cover the face?

Getting audited by the IRS is torture.

Heck...just getting a letter from them is torture.

"The people who complain about waterboarding are actually the same people who complain about the completely justified and well-deserved bombings of Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki."

Some are, but many are not. Many who admire or even revere FDR and/or Truman detest Bush. Think of Jimmy Carter, for example.

If the face is covered then how does water get into the nose and mouth?

Imagine taking a ziploc sandwich bag, placing it in someone's mouth when they are on an upside down incline, and then running a strong stream of water into the bag.

It will feel like your mouth is filling up with water and when you are upside down the water will flow from the bag into your nostrils even though gravity will prevent the water in your nostrils from flowing up into your lungs.

Reid and Pelosi would be willing to accept a hit on their districts.

They’d blame the Bush administration saying that the War on Terror has not made us safer and then stepping in to be all “9-11 Rudy” and take credit for any cleanup/investigation of the hit.

Jeff,

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

I don't care if we use blowtorches and rusty pliers on these thugs.

We're in a fight for our lives and we better start dealing with it that way.

Harry Reid...

“I would rather see the citizens of Las Vegas die than risk potential psychological damage to the terrorist who knows the plans that have been made to kill them. I stand by that position and think that the people of Nevada will support me.”

I was talking to someone who professes to be Catholic. Perhaps he shares your sense of humor.

Is waterboarding crueler than beheading by knife? Carry on with the waterboarding, snowboarding, whatever it takes.

The people who complain about waterboarding are actually the same people who complain about the completely justified and well-deserved bombings of Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Those people would appear to have some consistency in their logic. On the other hand, those that believe the use of WMD's on Japanese cities and the wholesale destruction of Dresden were justified and "well-deserved" are the same people who are shocked and mystified when the US is attacked in such an indiscriminate manner. They would believe that nothing could possibly justify that kind of slaughter of innocents. An inconsistent logic.

They’re also silent on how many US military die in protracted wars for our security which could be ended.
They say support our troops, bring them home, but do nothing to shorten the war that will bring them home after success.

So water is going into the nose?

Probably not, because I would guess that the military use equipment that is more advanced than a sandwich bag. I would assume a membrane that stretches into the mouth and nose without admitting water.

And although the technique is supposed to be low-risk, critics say it can result in long-lasting psychological damage, injury to the lungs and even, in extreme cases, death.

And although driving your car is supposed to be low-risk, critics say it can result in long-lasting spinal damage, injury to the limbs and even, in extreme cases, death.

And although homosexuality is supposed to be low-risk, critics say it can result in long-lasting psychological damage, injury to the anus and even, in lots of cases, death.

And although liberalism is supposed to be low-risk, critics say it can result in long-lasting psychological damage, injury to the country and even, in lots of cases, death.
