ATLANTA (AP) - Civil rights icon Andrew Young says Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is too young and lacks the support network to ascend to the White House.
In a media interview posted online, Young also quipped that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton has her husband behind her, and that "Bill is every bit as black as Barack."
"He's probably gone with more black women than Barack," Young said of former President Clinton, drawing laughter from a live television audience. Young, 75, was quick to follow his comment on Bill Clinton with the disclaimer, "I'm clowning."

It's funny because it's true.
Bill Clinton is the Rodney Dangerfield of politicians ... he don’t get no respect from either side of the aisle.
Does this mean O'Bama is every bit as white as Bill?
At least he isn’t so old he’s already fossilized like Young.
Andrew Young is famous for stupid and inappropriate comments.
Only a dipstick like Jimmah Carter would have appointed him to the UN.
Yeah I’m sure the DUers will blame his comments on old coot syndrome. I love it when old black guys start telling it like it is barber shop style. They should have asked him how many white chicks MLK scored in his day.
Gee, maybe if "civil rights icons" like Young could tear themselves away from "the first black President", they could have one for real.
And such is the level of civil rights icons today that they talk such sleaze.
Like any of this shit matters!
Obama is an intelligent, articulate, personable critter, who I could probably get along just fine with, so long as we didn’t talk politics.
Thing is, his mind is set, but so is mine!
My mind has been set, longer!
Yeah, but Obama has Oprah. That's gotta count for what, 1000 black women? Especially during the holiday (Thanksgiving to Christmas) season, if you know what I mean.
said neither Obama nor Oprah are hard core like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson
personally thank God that they're not perceived like Al or Jesse... think that's a plus unless you happen to be narrow minded like that talk show host's guests
It's more elementary than that. Young, Jackson, and Sharpton make their living by being the "representatives" and "voice" of Black America. If a Black man was ever voted President, HE would be the voice of Black America -- after all, no Black ever voted Young, Jackson, or Sharpton into major office
The best thing about Obama is the way he diminishes clowns like Sharpton and Jackson.
If there was no truth in that, no one would have laughed.
Well yes, but not if you rule out the ho's.
Poor Barry getting mocked and called an Oreo for not being a whoremonger like our first black president. The old guard civil rights types are jealous of Obama’s celebrity and suspicious of his refusal to kowtow to the usual race hustlers. Even DUers have been negging on Obama lately because of his religious pandering. It’s tough to be Jimmy Carter with a tan.
He could be purple for all I care. It's his commie ways that disturb me...and being a muslim.
He’s a muslum and he won’t admit he is half white too.
