Venezuela Willing to Buy 12 Combat Jets in Russia

Venezuela is willing to buy 12 combat jets in Russia, including the transport Il-76s and Il-78 flying tankers, said Colonel Oswaldo Hernandez Sanchez from Venezuela’s Air Force. The jets could be supplied in late 2008, the AP reported.

Venezuela clinched past year a few deals with Russia for buying armaments worth roughly $3 billion, including 100,000 Kalashnikov sub-machine guns, 24 SU-30 fighters and 53 combat helicopters. Venezuela also intends to build South America’s first Kalashnikov assault rifle factory.

What’s more, Chavez claimed recently he would set up a new air defense shield, buying components for it in Russia, Iran and Belarus.

The media also reported about Venezuela’s intention to acquire submarines in Russia, but Venezuelan Defense Minister Raul Isaias Baduel said they didn’t plan it at that time but might do it in future.

There’s a few F-16’s sitting on the Tarmac 36 miles away on Curacao. No need to waste precious taxpayer monies and fly anything from CONUS.

The Venezuelan people have no meat or milk, but Chavez has lots of their money to buy fighter jets. The Venezuelan people can eat them and drink their fuel instead..How smart and sane is their fearless leader.

As all leftist dictators, he’ll starve his people with mismanagment, and then deepen the crisis by bying arms to keep the discontent populace at bay. The same story everywhere there’s communism.

That won’t occur to the 49 percent who voted for Lifetime Hugo. It also won’t occur to Hugo that having jets is one thing; training competent pilots is another...

That’s a quick shoot-down by three F-18s or one F-22.
