That link has Lori's comments & more links.

I got to that blog earlier today with a link from somewhere. I'll admit I didn't read the LAT nor the NYT, but just the quotes I saw posted were enough. If I didn't know there was more to it, I might have been swayed by that blog, like maybe she wasn't such a bad person. I wasn't. Then having her attorney on whatever made me want to puke. I couldn't play the videos because I need flash and am afraid to rock the boat by installing any more stuff on my overloaded computer.

I hope you are a careful biker. A good friend called me today with some sad news about her brother in CO, swerved to avoid a car and wiped out, wore a helmet. In hospital for about a month, broken bones, surgery, then got an infection which is what killed him. One of 14 siblings, all up there in years. He was one of the healthiest and the first to go.

I wonder if other people were involved besides the Drews and Ashley Grills. If so, they too are going to be in the same shoe as them.

My mother always said parents shouldn't get involved in their childrens' disputes. The kids make up and forget the whole thing, and the parents end up mad at each other forevermore.

My mother gave me that advise too . I think we had wise mothers! ~P~

Thanks...I read so many links & posted to some that my mind spins over this. One thing that does bother me is that I’ve raised 5 teens now adults. Had I ran after each one when they were upset I would never have fed them. Seems they always had problems when I was cooking so I am not shocked to see the parents didn’t go running after Megan. I wouldn’t have let her go to her room if I knew what was on that computer, I would have tried to talk it out but sometimes you just can’t ...I don’t blame the parents & I just hope Lori Drew rots. As for her employee & the daughter well maybe someday this will hit them in the arse too.

Drew’s lawyer claims she had no knowledge the prank had taken a nasty turn until Megan committed suicide. ... “She knew these girls were doing it and she didn’t stop it”

Contradictory statements.

Lori Drew regrets not stopping her daughter and an employee from using a fake MySpace account to mislead Missouri teenager Megan Meier, but Drew’s lawyer claims she had no knowledge the prank had taken a nasty turn until Megan committed suicide.

Hmmmm. . .so this girl's daughter (who had been a friend of the girl who committed suicide), is doing secret things with an 18 year old, and the mother has no clue whatsoever? She's either lying or she's not the best mother in the world.

No, she left her alone and made dinner

For which she will always regret. Being a mother who went through those terrible "mean girl" times with her daughter, that mother will never ever forgive herself for not following Megan to her room.

While I feel for Megan’s parents in their time of loss, I find it odd that they either failed to monitor the online activity of their daughter or didn’t object to the situation until after her suicide.

In one article I read, the girl had asked her mother if she could add this 'guy' to her friend page. So, apparently, the parents were monitoring what she was doing at least to some degree. (Apparently, they were at least monitoring who she could add to her page.) Obviously, they made an error in judgment, but we've all done that kind of thing (usually not with such dire consequences though).

I find much of my sympathy for them waning in the face of what looks to me like an attempt to dodge their own parental responsibilities and obligations.

That does not excuse what this witch, her brat kid and the lunatic 'employee' did to this girl however. From what I hear, her business had to shut down because of this. All I can say is 'that's a good start'.

I agree. The Meiers’ efforts to criminalize speech on the internet are misguided. However, they have every right to pursue a civil case against Lori Drew for slander, wrongful death, pain and suffering, and whatever else they can think of. Perhaps a successful lawsuit would deter other people misusing the internet the way that Drew did. It is all too easy to go online and attack someone else by name while remaining anonymous oneself. If people knew that they could be sued for doing this, they might decide not to, which would make the internet a better place for everyone.

Bottom line — this woman acted like a little kid. Doesn’t matter if the girl was a jerk or a cyber bully, she was 13.

Why was the mom making dinner when her daughter was so upset and crying and had just read a whole bunch of evil posts to her?

Teenagers, when they are upset, will often scream "Just leave me alone!" Trying to force yourself on them at that point generally only makes them more emotional.

Whether Megan did that or not, I don't know. But it is possible.
