Why do you think that the last 60 years of economic history should be undone? Personally I recognize that various nations bring various competitive advantages to the world market. And that we should trade in those things we do well for those goods and services which other nations do better than we. That way we both benefit. Yes there are some limited exceptions (e.g. national defense). Pat is proposing mercantilism though he calls it “Hamilitonian” - you might actually read some economic history about that and how it worked out.
