In a Blogcritics interview with Washington Post media reporter Howard Kurtz on his book Reality Show, Scott Butki asked if CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric really hated the P-word when applied to her:
I wanted you to elaborate on a paragraph on page 254 and whether you think it was fair for the media to caricature Katie Couric and whether she herself ever made that quote attributed to friends:

We'll call her something else.
As any kid will tell you it is a big mistake to complain and tell people not to call you something...
I wouldn’t call her (expletive deleted) perky - I’d call her an (expletive deleted) intellectual whore.
counting down to the chearleader pic....10...9...8
She hasnt been “perky” in 15 years.
I will politely abstain from calling that tart “perky”.
Your PERKY PERKY PERKY PERKY!!!
*hint* It starts with an f.
BTW, I think "quirky" would be just fine in place of perky.
Hey be nice!
Call her Ms. (expletive deleted) intellectual whore...
*grin*
LOL!
If we can’t call her [edited] Perky, then can we call her
a cunning runt, or preferable, the reverse!?!?!
What gets lost here, is how Katie came on the scene in the first place. There are those who would say that Katie may have done Deborah Norville dirty. But others might say that is show business, in which Katie’s relationship to Norville might be akin to the film All About Eve. That is the problem, Katie is all show business and little if any journalism. Show business is such a cesspool that even Rosie O’Donnell can find frequent work.
Clearly, she’s a pseudo-intellectual whore. ;-)
(Now, if I ever meet Ms. Couric, I can tell her how I defended her. “Someone called you an intellectual whore & I defended you. I told him you weren’t an intellectual”.)
Sorry, Katie...you’re perky. Deal with it.
She’s not perky, she’s annoying and in way over her head and getting the horrible rtings she deserves proving markets are efficient.
