The Legend of the Seventh Virgin. I thought I was the only one who still read her stuff.
The entire Victoria Holt oevre, in “Reader’s Digest Condensed” version, was in my grandmother’s attic, where I used to spend the summers reading historical romances by oil lamp. (The electricity made it upstairs in the late 1980’s.)
She used the name more than once, in her publications under various pseudonyms. It’s a nice name. Good plots, adequate research, skillful writing. Too bad Ms. Holt has passed on.
