I would like that. Shades of Jeff Sessions: they turned down his judicial appt. & he got himself elected (& he's probably my favorite senator!).

Jeff IS my favorite senator....and last night laying in bed I had the thought that wouldn’t it be a crack-up if Pickering Sr were named as the senator....all our evil minds must thing alike.....

I agree...we Alabamians are pretty happy with Senator Jeff Sessions. He hasn’t let the trappings of power get his priorities skewed. Many of those congresscritters start to let that “world’s greatest deliberative body” booscheeteau go to their heads, it seems.

Sessions is one of our senators. He is conservative, curious enough to have his excellent, experienced staff research proposed legislation (as in amnesty bill), and is not afraid to speak up in the Senate. I would like to see him in Lott's position.

I will be glad to see the last of Lott, who consorted so much with the Dems and then got eaten alive by them after his Strom Thurmond moment.

I would like to see either Pickering take Lott's place--esp. the sr. Pickering for the interim period. It would be a finger in the eye of Dems who so richly deserve it.
