I know it doesn't make sense. The boyfriend isn't the father of the baby:

Police said 20-year-old Laura Havens and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Casey Shields, left Havens' 2-year-old boy in a locked car while they shopped at the Prime Outlets in Hagerstown, Md.

Anyway this goes it's the child that suffers for having an irresponsible mother with messed up priorities. An all too common story heard every day.

Well, maybe he is. In the brave new world of serial cohabitation (with plenty of bedhopping at all times), only a DNA test would tell for sure, and I'll bet Mama found it convenient not to know.

It was probably a responsible family member of the boy friend that knew this child and agreed to take him in , instead of going to a foster home
