BEIJING (Reuters) - Thousands of people in northeastern China have protested on the streets and surrounded government offices demanding help recovering money from a get-rich-quick scheme to raise ants to make an aphrodisiac tonic.

Hundreds of anti-riot troops and police in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, were deployed to stop protesters reaching the provincial government and Communist Party headquarters, residents said on Wednesday.

The tonic was promoted on television by Zhao Benshan, the country's best-known comic who specializes in playing innocent bumpkins with a northeastern twang. But since October, the group has twice delayed payment of dividends

Think of Robert Wagner promoting no cost payments to seniors trying to hold onto their house in the NE etc!

With no complaint against SS limit of 32,500 per married couple without SS decreasing your payments.

Well, at least it's just ants this time. The Chinese need for folk-medicine aphrodisiacs and erectile dysfunction cures has apparently played a very big part in the population decline of endangered species such as rhinos, tigers, bears, etc. You'd think Viagra would have taken care of this but apparently not.

I for one welcome our new ant masters and remind them that a savy web poster could provide invaluable assistance in their overall plan of conquest.

I remember Rita Hayworth as Apthrodite singing a little ditty..

I’m the goddess of song and dance..
I put the ants in the dancer’s pants...

I saw it on TV. Not the screen (I’m not THAT old)!
