Swift Boat issue becomes crucial to Kerry anew
The Boston Globe ^ | Nov 21, 2007 | Sasha Issenberg

For Kerry, the public showdown with Pickens represents not only a belated engagement with old antagonists, but also an early strike against a Democratic primary opponent who signaled Monday that he welcomes the scrutiny of Kerry's military record initiated by the Swift Boat ad campaign in 2004.

"It goes to his credibility," said Ed O'Reilly, a Gloucester lawyer mounting a challenge to Kerry in the Democratic primary. "It needs to be cleared up."

[snip]

As it stands, the man most welcoming of the return to the conflicts of 2004 is O'Reilly, who is attacking Kerry as not opposing the Iraq war strongly enough and says that the issues raised by the Swift Boat ads reflect on Kerry's character.

Agree with the Dishonorable discharge comment. This is strongly supported by rewritten medal citations by subsequent SECNAV’s. This just does not happen without some significant string pulling...

Kerry will never release his complete record to the public. It would be the end for him. Odds are that Kerry has an Other than Honorable discharge that was upgraded when Carter granted amnesty to deserters and upgraded their discharges.

Looks like CHECKMATE for Kerry.

Kerry, would enjoy life more if he just dropped the whole vietnam war hero, act.

Teresa let him try that once, but she shrieked in horror upon viewing the result:

T Boon will keep the pressure on J Fraud till he puts up or shuts up....we have the answer about his Viet War record, it is false. Why else would he not release them to avoid the butt kicking from teh Swifties that may have cost him the Presidency...

My only problem with the whole thing is that the leftist, revolutionary Marxist main stream media and Democrats, and maybe Wikipedia, have coined the phrase "Swift boating" to mean lies and propaganda about someone. Whereas to me it means telling the truth.

But what do you expect from disordered minds? The media and Democrats are mindless enough to continue to use the phrase "McCarthyism" incorrectly. McCarthy was right about everything he said about communists. The commies are still here, but in larger numbers. McCarthy was not paranoid; we were victims of the vast left wind conspiracy that has been going on for fifty years.

I do not plan on attacking Kerry's military service or anyone else's who took the oath to defend our country and who was honorably discharged

Well. there's the key question isn't it? Did Jimmy Carter upgrade traitor Kerry's discharge or not?

Clearly not Pickens fault that Kerry jumped the gun by going national on what he (Kerry) thought Pickens was asking him for.

No biggie. Ketchup boy will treat this like a house cat that knocks over a potted plant, then walks away as if nothing happened.....

kerry is proving what an idiot he is again. He should know better than to challenge T Boone whom I’m sure did his homework before offering the bait to the fool.

I wonder how he will try and lie his way out of the corner he has painted himself in this time.

It’s over, John. Go back home to Bah-stun and cry to Ter-raeza about it.

"On the presidential campaign trail, the term "Swift Boat" has come to be shorthand for a vicious attack."

The "TRUTH" can be a vicious thing to a liar.

Bingo! Jon Carry is just obsessed with this. He thinks, he would be President today, if it wasn't for the Swifties. He can't get it out of his mind. His "failed joke" torpedoed his chance at running this time around. He's still dreaming of getting in, but he thinks he has to get the Swift Boat stuff off his back. And imagine, he has to go home to Terayza. Gawd, all those millions better be worth it.

You think Jon Carry just sounds pompous when he speaks. Nooooo! He also writes like a pompous *ss, just read the following in John Kerry's voice: ""I am prepared to prove the lie and marshal all the evidence, the question is whether you are prepared to fulfill your obligation," Kerry wrote."

To have this notoriously thin-skinned poseur crop up again in the election news cycle is SUCH a gift for the GOP! And the fact that he claims to have released his military records (when he did NO such thing) just makes the issue that much more delicious.

Has there been a Dem candidate in the last 8 years who was NOT an embarassment to the nation? I will give Lieberman a pass since it appears that he has come to his senses on the issue of the WOT, and had to run as an Independent when the Defeatocrats kicked him out of the party at the primary.

Odds are that Kerry has an Other than Honorable discharge ...

Finally, someone who remembers what happened.

You nailed it. - Kerry was investigated for his unlawful activities by the Senate.
The armed forces have longer teeth in these matters and discharged him.

Kerry can end everything 100% and become a national hero again overnight, for standing up and defeating the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, simply by the one act of releasing his records, but strangely - for an innocent man - he does not.

give it up john
