Rudy made seventy-five judicial appointments. Six of those were Republican.

At least fifty were democrats. I don’t know what the other nineteen were.

I had heard that his record on appointments was not good, but have not researched it. Would not vote for Rudy for many reasons, not just his record concerning judicial appointments.

Though it can sometimes be convenient to imply all democrats are unwilling to interpret the law the way it should be, the political affiliation of a judge should have no bearing on whether they are appointed. They (judicial nominees) should instead be nominated on the merits of their record and the sound legal decisions they have made. I would prefer to appoint a democrat who made sound legal decisions and interpreted the law correctly than a Republican judge who invents law to suit the political needs of either party.
