Intro by ML/NJ: You have to know that it is traditional to sing the "Good Old Song" after the Virginia football team scores (and other times too). Huge sections of the stadium link arms and sing to the tune of Auld Lang Syne The song includes the following couplet:
We come from old Vir-gin-i-a
Where all is bright and gay
For a decade or more it has been common for many to insert the words "Not Gay!" following this couplet. This has had the enforcers of Political Correctness beside themselves. There are regular campaigns to humiliate the not-gayers, and so today comes this column. WOW! [end Intro]
The "not gay" chant has been completely written off on Grounds. Some call it a drunken joke while others refer to its adherents as homophobes. Unfortunately, in doing so, this University has completely disregarded the religiously and politically-minded like myself who say the chant out of disgust for the gay lifestyle and support for our natural heterosexuality given to us by God.
Not surprisingly, the chant's opponents found it much easier to write us off as drunks and homophobes then address our intellectual concerns.
. . .
During the second half of the football season I have felt uncomfortable saying the "not gay" chant, not because of the content, but because of the stares and criticisms I receive after doing so. Despite this discomfort, I will continue to press on as one of the last beacons of strength and morality. That may sound too pompous for the rather insignificant matter at hand, but courage on any level is hard to find these days. Political correctness, a weakening morality and lack of courage are suffocating our once-great nation. You have an opportunity to stop the suffocation. Promote the "not gay" chant.

He certainly has a Cavalier attitude to political correctness.
Kudos to the “nay-gayers”
So, you’re happy about not being gay? How dare these individuals trash political correctness for the sake of logic and sanity!!!
Who do these logical people think they are, happy heterosexuals? This can’t be!!! What a national calamity!!!
How dare my fellow heterosexuals put up this kind of fuss.
What’s next? Thanksgiving? Christmas? :)/sarc
“I’m here I’m not queer, get over it!”
We’re retro, we’re hetero, get over it.
Teachers in MA have been encouraging Gay and Lesbian Youth to approach the objects of their affection. The common response is; “I’m flattered but no thanks.” Well, I wouldn’t be flattered and how long before some Christian student gets disciplined for giving the “wrong” answer?
Not for long, if the homo's have their way.
Symbolism over substance. People get more upset over words and symbols than over teal things.
madness.
Too bad “Gay” replaced the real word “Queer”
Similar to “choice” replacing “baby killers”
...um...no fist jokes please
Way to go young student; you need stand up for traditional values, and keep “old dominion” alive; Take back Virgina (which I have some affinity for since I went to college in central virginia)!
Straight Pride is the only song for me!
"Where all is bright and STRAIGHT!"
Almost rhymes.
Wouldn’t be the first time a Virginia anthem gets nixed over political correctness. What’s the Old Dominion’s state song now, anyway?
Seems like “that’s so gay” is now a common insult used by middle-schoolers and other young folks, at least where I live. I means, roughly, “that’s so uncool” or “isn’t that effeminate?”
The homosexuals stole the word. The kids stole it back.
What would DeMarco Fagg do?

Yep, although there is something obnoxious about screaming out your sexual orientation no matter what that orientation is.
But this is clearly protected speech.
