Governor Mitt Romney Announces National Veterans Coalition

Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney announced the Romney for President National Veterans Coalition made up of retired service members from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. As part of this national coalition, each member will serve as a surrogate to their local veterans' communities for Governor Romney's message of change in Washington.

"Every American is grateful for the very extraordinary acts our veterans have performed so that we may continue to enjoy freedom at home. I am proud that so many of these men and women have joined our effort to change Washington by organizing grassroots support for our campaign across the country," said Governor Romney.

In Massachusetts, Governor Romney worked with members of both political parties to expand benefits for veterans and members of the National Guard. In Washington, he will do the same. Party identification does not matter when it comes to helping and supporting our nation's veterans.

Fred Thompson was honoring vets yesterday and announced his own vets’ coalition. Is he pandering too or are the rules different for Fred?

Trust. Obviously, can’t trust a pandering Hillary. And it’s very difficult to trust a long time pro-abort RINO recently converted to pro-life just in time to run for president.

Fred stated one week ago on Meet the Press (and H&C last Spring) that he would vote to keep abortion legal on the state level if he was a state legislator. You can watch it for yourself in Fred’s own words. There is no stretch of the imagination which makes keeping abortion legal a pro-life position.

We are still waiting for Fred’s conversion.

>>>B/S. FRed is one hundred percent pro-life and you’re a 100% liar if you say otherwise.<<<

100% Pro-Life. Maybe 50-75% committed.

Where’s Thompson’s defense of the unborn under the 14th Amendment? If you see the unborn as humans, they should be worthy of the protections of the Constitution.

Thompson’s insistence on federalism on this issue is a bit bewildering. It’s clearly a federal issue per the Constitution and per the ruling of the US Supreme Court.

Some like to paint this as pandering; In Massachusetts, Governor Romney worked with members of both political parties to expand benefits for veterans and members of the National Guard. In Washington, he will do the same. Party identification does not matter when it comes to helping and supporting our nation's veterans

some want to trash this thread Keyword: axisofdesperation; gopinfiltration; mttspam; romneysleazemachine;

Now if it was their candidate who was doing this deed they would be singing a different tune!

Fred Thompson never served in the military - ditto for his sons.

And Fred Thompson hid behind his pregnant wife’s skirts. If you people want to spit in Mitt Romney’s face, you need to expect it will backfire.

“And Fred Thompson hid behind his pregnant wife’s skirts.”

Right now it sounds like a lie, will you elaborate?

All I know is that it seems Fred believes it should be up to the states to decide. To me, it sounds like he is a little ambivalent.

>>>Get lost, troll.<<<

My criticism is legitimate, conservative, in-line with the GOP party platform, and thus not even remotely close to trolling.

To quote it directly:

>>>We support a human life amendment to the Constitution
and we endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.<<<

http://www.gop.com/media/2004platform.pdf

National Right to Life states recognizing the rights of the unborn under the 14th amendment as a policy objective, as well. They indeed endorsed Thompson, who opposes such a measure under the guise of federalism.

It’s a good endorsement, but to say he’s their dream candidate is just simply incorrect.
