CIR would have legalized the status of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens allowing them to stay and work here. It also would have allowed family reunification under chain migration bringing in almost immediately tens of millions more. Amnesty doesn't work. We have tried it.
Except for a few, most of Congress is complicit in the attempt of give amnesty to illegals. Both Repubs and Dims.
IMO, this issue will come to the forefront during the next year. I hope to see a lot of surprised looks come election day, 2008.
Eight of them were even registered to vote in American elections.
Under federal "motor voter" law, anyone receiving a driver's license automatically may register to vote.
Nothing but the "honesty" of illegal aliens prevents them from breaking one more law, and voting in American elections.
And Hillary Clinton thinks we should give driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

The GOP idiots better take the bull by the horns and declare the following Illegal Immigration policy :
- will build the fence/wall and make borders airtight within 6 mo. to one year. Period.
- enforce existing laws and punish illegals' employers a la Arizona law, no ifs or buts about it.
- absolutely no amnesty in any shape or form
- revisit the 14th Amendment and stress: "NO ANCHOR BABIES"
- stop Mexico's interference in the USA internal affairs. No Mexican consulates' personnel are allowed to shout at or even talk to LEOs, NATIOWIDE, unless called upon by US authorities.
- starting with any traffic infraction, up to felonies by illegals, will result in immediate deportation or serving time then deportation.
- unite families of any arrested illegals; their families are deported with them immediately. If the person has to serve time, his family is deported immediately
- reporters of any sob stories in the media are subject to divulging the identity or whereabouts of the illegal(s) they interview under the penalty of aiding and abetting fugitives.
- any demonstration of illegals is to be surrounded by LEOs and hauled to a detention center to filter out American citizens. The rest, including LEGAL ALIENS", are deported ASAP with the bills sent to their home embassies. If "most” of the GOP candidates in '08 grow some spines, they WILL take back the Congress in ’08, hands down. That will mitigate the impending disaster if Ho She Marx takes the WH, God forbid.

Culberson stated that the Houston Chronicle newspaper had already run a story (the morning before this radio program) blaming Pres. Bush for this automatic, mandatory six month sentence. Culberson pointed out that it had nothing to do with President Bush and that the six month automatic sentence had been on the books for a long time, but will, as of October 31st, 2007 - be fully enforced. The radio interviewer added that the Houston Chronicle does and has always tried to make President Bush and all conservatives look bad.
(and of course, I didn't see this article in the Houston Chronicle - because I haven't taken that paper in over 9 years - and never will again)

- no IDs of any sort and shame on us if some states “accept” Mexican IDs. That’s including but no limited to, DLs of ANY tier. Learn from Her Thighness choke act! - no perks or programs whatsoever, SS, food stamps, kids’ programs, education** (free or PAID), healthcare*, etc.
- *emergency room treatment is what it means: EMERGENCY TREATMENT, then deportation. A cold or non-emergency gets a phone call to ICE----->deportation
- **education: NONE. Citizens are encouraged to demand school enrollment through ID papers for citizens' and LEGAL ALIENS’ children only or else, a property tax withholding of the education portion, period. Are they going to foreclose on millions of houses? The banking industry will be outraged and they, grudgingly, will have to support us! That will answer the illegals' Intifada with a tax Intifada of our own and will see who wins when the local government critters' and teachers' salaries stop flowing!

Editor Jeff Cohen once admitted publicly (at a going-away party for his outgoing editorial-page editor, who was going to work for Mayor Bill White, former Texas Democratic Party chief, as his PA aide) that he was brought to Houston to take the Chronicle to the left, presumably to move the voting public to the left. The Chron is owned by Hearst.
The editorial stance of the Chron can now be best described as smoldering, glow-in-the-dark hatred for Texans and Houstonians in general, most especially churchgoers and conservatives. Anyone who isn't a black racist, Chicano la Raza ethnocentrist, illegal alien, communist, or in-your-face homosexual is a suspect. (No, you can't be in the closet, you coward!) Most of their editorials are left-wing rants.
Does Hearst have a Winger agenda in other communities their fishwrappers serve? Anyone know?
I think the author is wrong about a “conditional” amnesty.
Americans have been burned with previous “one-time” amnesty deals and we expect secure borders and enforcement—not more game playing and broken promises.
