There is probably no one who has ever loved his job more than Mr. Hawass does. I enjoy his enthusiastic appearances on TV.
To me he seems like a world-class publicity hog. My theory is that the reason he is on TV so much is that access to antiquities is contingent on him being part of any resulting TV programs.
From what I have heard it appears to be part of Arab culture that the head guy in an organization takes credit for everything. Hawass is often quite interesting but he is ridiculously over-exposed.
