The really dangerous part about the valley fog is that it is variable and can change suddenly from 1/4 mile visibility to 0....that is when these pile-ups occur.

Yep. That's what I mean. Tulare is famous for its variable valley fog. In the autumn and winter, it can change from clear to zero visibility within several miles. The locals know all about it but outsiders are often caught unprepared when the fog moves in and you can't see nothing for miles ahead.

I have only been driving for a couple of months, and I am already sick and tired of people tailgaiting me, and passing me because I am going to slow (when I am going 7 over the limit in a 45).
If people would just give people their distance and TURN THEIR LIGHTS ON, most accidents would never happen. Just last week I nearly had four cars run into my bumper because I had to suddenly break for two deer in the road.
