LEFT LANE TO AN '08 DISASTER (Hillary's illegals licensing crackup)
NY POST ^ | November 1, 2007 | Charles Hurt, DC Bureau Chief

Posted on 11/01/2007 8:26:14 AM PDT by Liz

A haunting problem for Clinton....illegal-immigrant coddling plans such as Gov. Spitzer's - no matter how they're dressed up in the guise of enhancing security - enrage a huge majority of Americans, especially widely-courted independent voters.........a Republican strategist chortled. "This is an 80-20 issue for us and they're walking right into it." That would be "80-20," as in 80% of Americans oppose it, 20% support it......rare gems in politics. "The vast majority of Americans are against this - especially among likely voters. She's clearly out of touch," said GOP pollster John McLaughlin, who has surveyed extensively on the issue.

Hillary's in a bind. Spitler's NY licensing atrocity is only half the story.

Amnesty One and Two went down to defeat b/c Repubs and Dems were all getting the same message from constituents....."shove it."

The entire nation is up in arms over pandering politicans handing US sovereignty to Third World hellholes like Mexico. When a presidential candidate can't (or won't) control its borders, the safety and security of Americans is at risk.

HISTORY OF USING GOVERNMENT POWER TO PROTECT ILLEGALS

Interesting that Hillary and Giuliani are both illegal panderers from way back.

Pres Bill pardoned Puerto Rican terrorists to nail latino votes for Hil's Senate race.

Mayor Giuliani established NY as sanctuary city; he ordered city employees to ignore federal law and barred them from assisting federal immigration agents. Giuliani sued all the way to the Supreme Court to defend the city’s sanctuary policy against a 1996 federal law decreeing that cities could not prohibit their employees from cooperating with the then-INS (now ICE).

RUDY'S TURN TO ENDORSE SPITLER

2008 candidates--Clinton and Giuliani are so much alike, they must compare notes to get their pandering priorities in sync.

Hillary quickly came to Spitler's defense---now it's Giuliani's turn.

THE "BRAINS" surrounding Hillary Clinton didn't make any friends last Friday at Condé Nast when they balked on a firm, long-standing commitment to let the candidate pose for Vogue, while the astute Julia Reed hung ten waiting to write about her and the giant fotog Annie Leibovitz had her cameras at the ready for nothing.

A source inside Hillary's camp supposedly informed the Vogue contingent they'd decided some time ago not to honor the commitment, but Vogue wasn't told until the last minute.

Handlers for the senator decided Vogue would be "too elitist" and Hillary might come off as "too glamorous." Hmmm, after those hideous Al Gore-type pantsuits, like the one she wore at her 60th-birthday fund-raiser, I think Mrs. Clinton could use a touch of glamour.

Elitists vote too, ya' know.

Believe me, it won’t take long now...The fact that Hillary has to even open her mouth to run for president is a big negative. Every time she does open her mouth her foot goes in it. She’s clueless!

This morning local NY1 reported that Mrs. Clinton “shot herself in the foot” with this issues at the debates.

"Sen. Clinton supports governors like Gov. Spitzer who believe they need such a measure to deal with the crisis caused by this administration's failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform."

Isn't up to Congress i.e., The House and The Senate (last time I checked, Mrs. Clinton was still a senator) to pass legislation?

Well, you know, the Bush Administration has grabbed so much power that it now is also running the legislative branch!

I am waiting for Tim Russert and all the other candidate debate moderators to ask some simple questions and INSIST on straight answers: 1 - What should be done about the illegal immigrants that are here? Deport? Amnesty? Enforcement and attrition? If amnesty, how do you propose treating the people who obeyed the law and got in line? 2- Do you support allowing illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses? 3 — Do you support taxing overseas money transfers to pay for benefits to immigrants such as health care? 4 — What level of legal immigration do you think would be good for our country? More? Less. The current level? 5 — Chain migration: How many and to what degree of relationship should immigrants be allowed to sponsor their relatives to enter our country? 6 — Should English be our official language?

...a Republican strategist chortled. "This is an 80-20 issue for us and they're walking right into it."

Sure...because the Republican President and Senators are so popular with the public for their strident opposition to illegal immigration...

Is it a requirement when accepting the title of "strategist" to check your brains at the door?

It appears that the Clintonistas are whining that Russert picked on her. Is this where we’re headed for the next year? Ronald Reagan knew Margaret Thatcher, she was a friend of his and my guess is he’d say that Hillary is no Margaret Thatcher.

It’s just an act to get sympathy. If she wants to run for the most powerful office in the world she better expect tough questions because a lot more is headed her way.

The best way to attack Hillary is with her own words and in her own voice. That way she can't say that she was misquoted.
