Mexican consulate deal dogs Huckabee campaign

A lingering controversy over the role former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee played in establishing a Mexican consulate office in Little Rock financed by taxpayers and local businesses continues to follow the Republican presidential candidate's campaign, even as he enjoys a surge in polls.

Critics in Arkansas contend Huckabee worked with some of the state's most prominent and politically powerful businesses to draw illegal immigrants to the state to accept low-paying jobs.

Huckabee strongly denied the charges in a telephone interview with WND yesterday

This week, as WND reported, Rasmussen Reports added Huckabee to its daily tracking of top tier GOP presidential candidates following a surge that pushed him past former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with the support of 13 percent of likely voters nationwide. In Iowa, a University of Iowa poll released Monday showed Huckabee surging to a virtual tie for second place in the key primary state with Rudy Giuliani at 13 percent.

One of Huckabee's Arkansas critics, long-time border-security activist Joe McCutchen, told WND that Freedom of Information Act documents he obtained show unusual business practices and possible improprieties in a 2006 Huckabee decision to attract a Mexican consulate to Little Rock.

Space in an Arkansas government facility was leased for $1 a year to the Mexican government to establish the Mexican consulate until a permanent Mexican consulate facility could be built, at the expense of Arkansas citizens and corporations.

McCutchen charges that Huckabee made the deal with Mexico in order to attract illegal immigrants into the state to work in politically connected Arkansas businesses seeking to exploit low-cost immigrant workers.

"Huckabee is an open borders multi-culturalist who put the will and needs of Arkansas corporations before the needs of Arkansas citizens and taxpayers," McCutchen charged.

We wanted people to come to Arkansas and get the proper paper work and do things with a work permit and a visa. It's so much easier to do that if you have a consulate where people can go to get proper documentation, rather than just accommodating people illegally."

Wrong Governor. They obtain the paper work at an American embassy/consulate before they enter the U.S. otherwise they are here illegally and must be deported!

"...establishing a Mexican consulate office in Little Rock financed by taxpayers and local businesses..."

Excuse me, Huckleberry, but why in the **** is taxpayer's money being used to pay for a MEXICAN consulate. Let the Mexican government pay for their own **** consulate. I hadn't heard about THIS fiasco--just knew that Huckleberry was a shill for "La Raza". And THIS guy is moving up in the polls??

I think the media’s attempt to paint Huckabee as a rising candidate is just another attempt to position a surefire loser as the GOP nominee. Don’t fall for it!

The Mexican Consulate is where people/illegals go to get cedillas and other MEXICAN documents to facilitate a continuation of illegal residence in the U.S... and Huckabee knew it and accommodated it!

Huckabee is one of America's Quislings who substituted Mexican "legal processes" for American "legal processes" to accomodate un-American business practices. Huckabee and those businesses had no problem subverting American sovereignty by supporting a shadow Mexican government and sovereignty - right here in the U.S..

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has said "Mexico does not stop at the border, that wherever there is a Mexican, there is Mexico", and Huckabee has shown that he agrees.

FWIW, in the same light, I think the laimstream media has done the same thing with Osama Obama. Knowing this guy has absolutely no experience and regularly inserts both feet in said mouth, they go out of their way to make him out to be the second coming. Then, when he fails to hit the mark, it's her Thyness to the rescue!

Nothing quite like having a complicit media when running for office, is there?

I think, and I could be wrong, it is the special interest groups that are trying to make us believe he is moving up in the poles. (They must be spending a lot of money on him.)

There are enough sheep out there who will vote for him just because they have been fooled into thinking he is a frontrunner, and the sheep will vote for any frontrunner. They are not going to stop to think he is dangerous.

The article’s author, Jerome R. Corsi, is not “the Media.” Corsi is a proven Conservative author and activist. He was coauthor, with swift-boat vet John O’Neil, of the “Unfit for Command”, which played a major part in Kerry’s 2004 defeat. And he has recently been writing about the elitist scheme for a North American Union.

Huckabee....except for Klintoon, the biggest scalawag in 140 years. On this issue, he is right up there in the polls for best candidate Mexico wants in the WH on 1/20/09.
