HOUSTON A school district police officer suspended for creating and distributing a "Ghetto Handbook" has been fired.
Gang investigator Roby Morris, 34, had worked for 11 years at the Houston Independent School District before being fired this week, according to an investigation report released Friday.
Morris was placed on paid leave in August after school officials learned of his eight-page booklet subtitled "Wucha dun did now?"
The booklet was given to other police officers at a May roll call and tells them learning the definitions in it will allow them to speak as if they "just came out of the hood."

A Houston school district police officer who distributed a Ghetto Handbook has been fired.
Officer Roby Morris was placed on paid leave at the first of the school year after he handed out a multi-page pamphlet that listed Ebonics definitions to common phrases.
On Friday, the district moved to fire Morris.
According to HISD, Morris told investigators he created the handbook to get back at one of his supervisors.
He also used as his defense the fact he is married to a black woman and that they have three biracial kids, an internal investigation found.
About a dozen HISD employees, most from the districts police department, received copies of the handbook back in May. The pamphlet claims to allow officers to speak as if they had lived in the hood.
The publication was incredibly offensive and completely reprehensible. HISD condemns it in the strongest possible terms, district spokesman Terry Abbott said. This incident represents an egregious violation of our standards of conduct and decency.
I be wonderin’ where this dog git the idear that they don’t speak the King’s English in the ‘hood.

Hmmm...
More importantly, it would allow officers to understand the intentionally-illogical code-speak of a criminal population.
Just as criminals in old England developed Cockney Rhyming Slang specifically for the purpose of being able to communicate with one another without the police understanding them.
BBC America - British American Dictionary
Cockney Rhyming Slang |
Perhaps the most infamous of all the British slang, Cockney Rhyming Slang is a richly complicated, in-the-know type of language. It is said that slang was originally developed by the thieves of London, so that they could communicate without the bobbies understanding what they were saying. And they were most definitely successful. With the familiar words showing up in unlikely places in a sentence, the uninitiated can only shake their head in bewilderment. |
Depriving Police officers of a tool that will help them to understand what criminals are saying makes their job more difficult and so makes the community less safe.
Is that the strangest thing you ever saw?
I’m not sure what to make of it.
No the poor excuse of an officer should have know better than passing it out at work. If he wanted to joke about black people, then he needs to forget about the protect and serve BS. But wait no cop does that anymore anyway.
Now he has a lot of free time. the clown is not the brightest bulb on the tree.
WOW....Definitely made for a specific audience. An interesting juxtaposition of excellent, essential messages delivered in a borderline-obscene, hardcore format designed to appeal to the worst elements of society.
The aural assault of this is going to be a bit much for anyone with any degree of education or refinement, but it's interesting to see what's required in order to get some basic, obvious life-lessons to a demographic that sorely needs it.
Interesting also as a time-capsule item, to bookmark the utterly depraved, cancerous and blissfully uneducated inner-city underclass.
Nearly unwatchable for anyone with more than a second-grade education, but an important cultural commentary nonetheless.
I agree: Excellent analysis.
I’ve seen the lyrics before, but never the video. Very funny and spot on! Every single day I see some idiot with $10K worth of rims on a car that’s worth about 500 dollars, and I’ll think of this vid. Two thumbs up!
