An Antelope woman could be facing charges after admitting to Sacramento County Sheriff's detectives that she staged a crime scene and lied about being sexually assaulted last month.
The 29-year-old woman reported to deputies on Sept. 17 that she came home found two men burglarizing her house on Pepperridge Drive. She told deputies that one of the men fled, but the other sexually assaulted her before she left, sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran said.
Sheriff's detectives from the department's Sexual Assault and Elder Abuse Bureau responded to the scene and began an investigation, but discovered many inconsistencies between the victim's account of the incident and the physical evidence, Curran said.
"A lot of it was just their instincts the day of the incident," Curran said. "They had some questions in their minds and things just never added up."
On Tuesday, the woman admitted during a follow-up interview that she staged the crime scene and lied about the sexual assault . . .
