I'm a southern CA native, 50 years of age. This is at least the second time in recent memory that Malibu specifically has burned. Southern CA sees fires like this every couple years whether it's Global warming or not. These aren't even the biggest fires in CA history (yet) We had far larger ones during the 80s where the entire state felt like it was on fire.
Fires are part of CA's natural ecology - that's all there is to it.
The conditions where perfect. Santa Ana winds (winds blowing from the hot/dry desert towards the ocean takes all the moisture out of the eco-system. You look at the brush funny and it catches on fire. Been that way my whole life.
Oh yeah - Senator Harry is an Idiot of the first magnitude.
I hope your area is OK. I was in AZ during the 80’s and visited Vandenburg many times. I remember the raging wildfires in the mountains. Now they are being set intentionally (probably were then too because it is harvest time as everyone knows), with much more sprawl involved.
This is at least the second time in recent memory ...
Sorry. We are going to have to fine you for referring to factual experience and having an attention span greater than two months.
