In the current struggle in the world, Putin has been given a choice to side with the civilized world or to side with dictators (Chavez and Assad), a mad mullah theocracy, and various murderously violent loonies (Hamas and Fatah). Both at home and abroad he’s chosen illiberal, authoritarian, and criminal approaches. Israel will not stop him from helping or selling radars to Syria; Assad’s his kindred spirit. For Putin, principle, profit, and anti-US interests come together with his obvious affinity for Assad and his ilk.
