Israel urges Putin to block air defense system for Syria

Israel is pressing a last-minute diplomatic offensive to stop the Russian sale to Syria of a strategic air defense system.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met Russian President Vladimir Putin in a discussion that focused on Moscow's plans to sell strategic military systems to Damascus.

Officials said Olmert urged Putin to halt Russia's plans to deliver the S-300PMU1 air defense system to Syria.

In the current struggle in the world, Putin has been given a choice to side with the civilized world or to side with dictators (Chavez and Assad), a mad mullah theocracy, and various murderously violent loonies (Hamas and Fatah).
